Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 204/4 in their 20 overs. Grandstand finish from AB and RCB which takes them to an imposing total 204/4. It looked like Maxwell all the way but AB stole the thunder in the last five overs. KKR leak 70 runs and a large chunk of it coming from ABD’s willow. What a knock on this difficult Chepauk wicket. At 9/2, RCB were in a spot of bother but Morgan strangely took spinners out of their attack and let the batters off the hook. Maxwell and DDP stitched a useful partnership with the latter playing second fiddle to Maxi and revived the innings for RCB. The men in purple lost the plot completely. They managed to halt the run-flow to an extent after DDP’s dismissal, but Maxwell and de Villiers went bonkers at the death. There has been only one team to successfully chase a total down here and it was RCB. Glenn Maxwell scored 78 of 49 balls and AB de Villiers scored 76* of 34 balls. For KKR Chakravarthy pick 2 wickets for 39 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Kolkata Knight Riders unable to chase the target and scored only 166/8 in their 20 overs and lost the game by 38 runs. A clinical all-round performance from RCB. They’re probably the only side who must be relishing not having to play at home. Their bowlers have adapted brilliantly to the Chepauk conditions and Maxwell’s entry in that middle order has beefed up the batting as well. This surface was probably better than the ones in previous games but 200-plus was always going to be a tall order, especially with the struggles against the older ball still prevalent. KKR tried hard but kept losing wickets and nobody really batted for a significant period of time. Russell did get a few big hits going but you always felt that KKR were well behind in the game all the way. Andre Russell scored 31 runs 20 balls and skipper Eoin Morgan scored 29 in 23 balls. For RCB Kyle Jamieson picks 3 wickets for 41 runs in his 3 overs..
We’ll just leave this here. 😎

RCB: 204/4 in 20 overs
KKR: 166/8 in 20 overs
Result: Royal Challengers Bangalore won by 38 runs.
Man of the Match: AB de Villiers
Durgesh Tiwary’s View : Congratulations to RCB for their 3rd win in a row and become No.1 in the points table. Credit has to go Maxwell and De Villiers though, the way they struck the ball on this deck was superhuman to say the least. After losing 2 quick wickets in 2nd over of the game they way Maxwell and De Villiers played is incredible. Very good sign for RCB is that Maxwell is in form and currently orange cap holder. Bowlers bowled really well and defended the target successfully.
For KKR bowling was biggest concern as they given away plenty of runs in death overs. They were excellent in first 10 overs but unable to continue the momentum. For such mammoth target top order batsmen need to stay and score from one side but it didn’t happen and they loose wicket in quick succession and lost the game. At the end Russell tried but it was not enough for the team.
Stats
– Eoin Morgan has a poor record against RCB: 7 innings | 81 runs | AVG: 13.5 | SR 93.1
– Since IPL 2020, Kohli strikes at 104.14 in the middle overs, with balls per boundary as high as 17.5
– Sunil Narine has picked 16 wickets in 14 games against RCB (AVG: 21.94, SR: 19.5) but will struggle to find a place in the side. The only way he can get in is if Shakib Al Hasan makes way.
It was the Maxi-AB show today and they’re sweeping away the awards. 👏🏻 👏🏻 #PlayBold #WeAreChallengers #IPL2021 #DareToDream #RCBvKKR pic.twitter.com/akpd0TDxJu
