Chennai Super Kings scored only 134/6 in their 20 overs. They did race towards the end in the last four overs as Faf got going. But for most part, they looked out of sorts. The wicket was a little sticky and we saw three wickets to well directed short balls. Every batter apart from Faf struggled and it seemed they would be restricted to less than 120 at one time. But Faf got the big shots away and has helped his team to end on a good note. Not an easy track to bat on and Punjab know they will have to pull off a miracle in this chase. Just to make a point if Punjab want to pip KKR on the NRR front, they need to chase this down in 17 balls! That won’t happen. So, they would want to finish this off as soon as possible and then hope RR annihilate KKR. A chase of 135 as such won’t be easy. And CSK wouldn’t want three losses strung together before the playoffs. Faf du Plessis scored 76 of 55 balls and Ravindra Jadeja scored 15* of 17 balls. For PBKS Arshdeep Singh and Chris Jordan picks 2 wickets each.

Punjab Kings successfully chase the target and scored 139/4 in just 13 overs and won the game by 6 wickets. Brilliant victory for PBKS. They came into this game needing a big win. KL chose to bowl to have a target in mind and be clear of what they needed to do. They restricted CSK to 134, the total could have been lower if the bowling was as brilliant as the first half. And then KL took over with the bat. He’s said before that he’s not happy to play within himself having to shoulder the batting. But today he must be very happy to have taken the aggressive route. Well, did he have any other option? A win within 10-11 overs would have given them a better NRR, but by finishing in 13 overs, they have definitely gone over MI. PBKS now need RR to win big like MI and then SRH to down MI. But honestly, did they have to scrap for NRR with all these permutations and combinations? That jawdropping 2-run loss and then the 6-run loss to RCB has cost them dear. It’s been a story of throwing away games from their own bag for quite some time. Skipper KL Rahul scored 98* of 42 balls and Aiden Markram scored 13 of 8 balls. For CSK Shardul Thakur pick 3 wickets for 28 runs in his 3 over.
Dominant performance from @PunjabKingsIPL! πͺ πͺ
