Vivo IPL Match 5: MI beat KKR by 10 runs to register their first win in IPL 2021. Now I will share the details of this IPL game match in my way.

5th Game (Mumbai Indians Vs Kolkata Knight Riders)
Game Date: 13th April 2021
Details:
Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to field first in the 5th game of IPL 2021 against Mumbai Indians. No changes in their side as they played with same team. KKR included Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins and Shakib Al Hasan as four foreign players for this game.

One change in MI team as they included Quinton De Cock in place of Chris Lynn. Four foreign players of MI for this game was Quinton DeCock, Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult and Marco Jansen.

Mumbai Indians scored 152 all out in their 20 overs. KKR do not have a great record against MI in the recent past, but today could be the night to set that record straight. 38 runs and 7 wickets in the last 5 overs. There’s the summary of the innings. MI seemed to have things under control until the 15th over mark, but yet again their inability to finish well in the death overs could come back to haunt them. The big man Andre Russell showed glimpses of his smart-death-bowling-skills in the previous game against SRH and tonight he’s gotten the due rewards with a maiden fifer against his name. Only Suryakumar Yadav found some touch on what looked like a typical slow-ish Chennai wicket and the wickets of Rohit and Hardik in the space of 6 balls derailed the momentum for the slog overs. Suryakumar Yadav scored 56 of 36 balls and skipper Rohit Sharma scored 43 of 32 balls. For KKR Andre Russell picks 5 wickets for 15 runs in his 2 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders unable to chase the target and lost the game of just 10 runs as they scored 142/7 in 20 overs. At one time KKR 31 needed off 30 with 6 wickets in hand and they lose by 10 runs. Unbelievable choke this is. Belief is the word for MI. They believe in their players. Put thought into forming a squad, back a player if they see talent and the results are there to be seen. Imagine this. They dropped Dre Russ twice and still won. The beauty of this win was how they never panicked despite KKR having this in their bag. But they had the knack to snatch it away just before the zip was closed. Rana’s wicket was a turning point and I am sure he was reflecting on that from the dugout with the look on his face in the last over. Had he been there, this could have been done. Had to see off Chahar’s last ball off the spell but just got carried away after a fine, fine innings. And then Shakib just went for glory with all his experience than knocking it around and you never let MI back into a game. Nitish Rana scored 57 runs 47 balls and Shubman Gill scored 33 in 24 balls. For MI Rahul Chahar picks 4 wickets for 27 runs in his 4 overs quota.

MI: 152 all out in 20 overs
KKR: 142/7 in 20 overs

Result: Mumbai Indians won by 10 runs.
Man of the Match: Rahul Chahar

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : Congratulations to MI for their first win in this season. This was one of greatest comeback they have made in death overs. Batting looks concern for this team as unable to score big total after batting first in both games especially in last season they score plenty of runs in death overs which is not happening this year. But all credits to bowlers who are in top form and giving tough competitions to opponent.

For KKR bowling was excellent as they bowled out might MI to below par total and they were certain to win this game as needed 31 needed off 30 with 6 wickets in hand and they lose by 10 runs. Unbelievable choke this is. Nitish Rana was magnificent and scored his 2nd consecutive fifties and get good support from Shubman Gill but excellent bowling from MI front line fast bowlers and Krunal Pandya takes the game away from them.
