Vivo IPL Match 24: MI beat RR by 7 wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Now I will share the details of this IPL game match in my way.

24th Game (Mumbai Indians Vs Rajasthan Royals)
Game Date: 29th April 2021
Details:
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first in the 24th game of IPL 2021 against Rajasthan Royals. One change in MI playing XI as they have rested Ishan Kishan and included Nathan Coulter-Nile in the playing XI. Their 4 foreign players for the game are Kieron Pollard, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Quinton de Kock and Trent Boult.

No change in RR playing XI. Their four foreign players of this game are Jos Buttler, David Miller, Chris Morris and Mustafizur Rahman.

Rajasthan Royals scored 171/4 runs their 20 overs. Not a bad score for RR, but they could have got a lot more, if they had finished it better. Those two overs at the death by Bumrah were priceless as the Royals couldn’t take on the Mumbai Indians pacer. Buttler and Jaiswal got them off to a superb start, but Chahar was the one who claimed the wickets of both the openers. Samson played a fine innings too, but Dube’s knock of 35 soaked the momentum somewhat. Although the southpaw hit a few big hits, his strike rate was on the lower side. Skipper Sanju Samson scored 42 of 27 balls and Jos Buttler scored 41 of 32 balls. For MI Rahul Chahar pick 2 wickets for 33 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Mumbai Indians chased down the target by scoring 172/3 in 18.3 overs and won the game by 7 wickets. Change in conditions has brought the change in luck for the defending champions. 172 was always going to be under-par on a pitch that was quite good for batting. And once Mumbai got off to a strong start through de Kock, they were always ahead in the run chase. Krunal also played a lovely hand and his partnership with de Kock erased any little hopes that RR might have had when they got rid of Suryakumar. The pair batted beautifully on an easing surface and RR’s bowlers just couldn’t curb the run flow. To be honest, they needed at least 180 on this deck if not more to stand a chance. Tells you how badly Samson’s men batted at the death and how brilliant MI were with their slog-overs bowling. The game was probably decided there itself. de Kock played the anchor role to perfection and batted through to hold one end up, allowing the others to flourish. Quinton de Kock scored 70* of 50 balls and Krunal Pandya scored 39 of 26 balls. For RR Chris Morris picks 2 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs quota.

RR: 171/4 in 20 overs
MI: 172/3 in 18.3 overs

Result: Mumbai Indians won by 7 wickets
Man of the Match: Quinton de Kock
