Delhi Capitals scored 127/9 runs in their 20 overs. The games at Sharjah have been such a contrast to the ones played last year. Batters were launching the ball out of the ground for fun (28 sixes smashed last time these two met at this venue) and now there has not been a single six in the innings. Dhawan, Smith and Pant all got starts but none of them seemed to get a hang of the surface as they scored at a strike rate of below 120 and crawled towards 127. The slow bowlers were once again effective with Narine and Venkatesh Iyer being the pick of the lot. Skipper Rishabh Pant scored 39 of 36 balls and Steve Smith also scored 39 of 34 balls. For KKR Ferguson, Iyer and Narine picks 2 wickets each.

Kolkata Knight Riders successfully chase the target by scoring 130/7 in 18.2 overs. The Delhi bowlers put up a spirited fight but 127 was below-par even on this slow Sharjah surface. Pant employed just two overs of pace in the first ten overs and ensured that the two-time champions didn’t get off to a flier. Rabada was introduced only in the 11th over and he started off with a wicket-maiden. And when Ashwin accounted for Morgan in the very next over, the game was nicely poised with the Knight Riders needing 59 runs off the last eight overs. However, it needed just two big overs to close out the match but 14th (by Lalit Yadav) and 16th (by Rabada) turned out to be ones. Nitish Rana found his mojo and took his team over the line. Narine who was KKR’s best bowler earlier in the day, played a good little cameo with the bat too. Nitish Rana scored 36* of 27 balls and Shubman Gill scored 30 of 33 balls. For DC Avesh Khan pick 3 wickets 13 runs in his 3 overs.
