Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 134/7 runs in their 20 overs. Quite the innings that went nowhere. This pitch isn’t as slow or sticky as some of the others here in Sharjah, and clearly 134 is at least 20 runs too few. It started with Roy just not finding his timing at the top. Garg didn’t either. Saha did for a bit in the powerplay, but then with the older ball, struggled to keep up with it. The only bright spot for Hyderabad was the Abhishek-Samad stand, where it did look like they’d lift this innings, but no, Bravo and Hazlewood were a little too hot to handle with their change-ups. CSK should fancy this, perhaps quickly as well if there’s dew. Wriddhiman Saha scored 44 of 46 balls and Abhishek Sharma also scored 18 of 13 balls. For CSK Josh Hazlewood pick 3 wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Chennai Super Kings successfully chase the target by scoring 139/4 in 19.4 overs. CSK once again proving that 2020 was just an aberration. Then again, 2020 doesn’t really count as a year. They have qualified for the play-offs 11 times out of 12, now. SRH are the first team to be knocked out of IPL 2021. It was No. 1 vs. No. 8, and it will remain that way. The point-rich have gotten richer and the poor, poorer. This is the IPL, and there ain’t no Robinhood here. Gaikwad and Faf started off extremely well in the chase, and raced away to 75-0 in ten overs, before a brief collapse ensued, courtesy yet another breathtaking spell from Jason Holder, who once again delivered a one-man show that went in vain. They lost Moeen to Rashid, but played him out in the end to take on the remainder of the attack. In the end, it was Rayudu and MS Dhoni, who did play out a few dots and perhaps took it a little too close for comfort, before finishing things off with a few lusty blows, including a six that may have escaped the gravitational field of this planet. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 45 of 38 balls and Faf du Plessis scored 41 of 36 balls. For SRH Jason Holder pick 3 wickets 27 runs in his 4 overs.
