Story: Set in Rishikesh, 1997 movie revolves around Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and Vidya (Triptii Dimri) who are neighbors and loved each other since childhood. While Vidya is a doctor, Vicky is in the profession of applying henna on the palms of girls. Both tie the knot and go to Goa for their honeymoon.
On their first night they decided to record their personal video to keep this memory that will be a cherished treasure in the years to come especially in their bad times. However, their plans take a shocking turn when the CD containing their precious video goes missing, stolen under mysterious circumstances.
The two are very tense about the CD getting into wrong hands and they move heaven and earth to trace the robber so that they can retrieve the CD. As the couple races against time to reclaim their stolen moment, they discover the importance of their relationship extends far beyond a single recording. Will they retrieve their precious video before it falls into the wrong hands, or will they realize that the true essence of their love cannot be captured on film?

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in cinemas as loved the interesting concept backed by lighthearted comedy. Vicky and Vidya are newly married in 1997. They decide to record a video of their first night together as a keepsake for the future. However, their plan goes awry when the CD with the video gets stolen. The couple scrambles to retrieve it before things spiral out of control.
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video story is unique and had potential as this one is unadulterated comedy at its best. The dialogues range from witty too stupid to being completely unhinged and that makes for a great combo if we go to see. It either makes you laugh a lot or it makes you feel nostalgic about the comedies and dramas of the 90s and 00s. The movie doesn’t take itself too seriously. It has its intentions clear and that is of taking its viewers on a trip down memory lane; To a time when things were simpler and to a time when we used to find pleasure and happiness in the littlest of things. The ensemble consisting of such powerful comic artists elevates the experience of the film. Some scenes do evoke laughter and are quite entertaining. But more than the scenes, Raaj Shaandilya’s dialogues are praiseworthy. His witty and humorous dialogues are, in fact, the best part of the script and induce laughter at several places. The film is set up for a sequel, so the viewers should be prepared for further adventures of Vicky and Vidya.
While watching the film, the only thing that I was wondering about was the movie’s purpose, questioning what the need for this film was. In brief, the movie is a cringe fest that’s not easy to tolerate. The larger issue of clandestinely shot videos of newly-weds, which are sold for a price, is topical, making the otherwise light-hearted film somewhat serious and message-oriented. However, this also makes the audience wonder what exactly the storywriters want to convey. The screenplay looks more like an assemblage of jokes, anecdotes and gimmicks rather than a free-flowing drama. It delivers not a whit of what the trailer of the film promised. Like the characters affected by the disappearance of the CD, the film goes round and round in circles. The film would have turned out better if he had stuck to just one comedic sub-genre. It starts off with a terrific premise but loses steam later. The length of the film is another issue. It should have been a crisp two-hour comedy. Overall movie has fun, lighthearted comedy-drama that falls in the category of a good timepass watch only if you can sit through 2 and half hours long. It is not a very entertaining fare as it relies on dialogues and gimmicks more than a wholesome drama to keep the audience engaged. My view on this movie Not Recommended.
