Undekhi Season 3 Review: New season is packed with enough intrigue and fresh developments to maintain the suspense and excitement until the conclusion
Undekhi Season 3 Web Series Rating: 3 Stars

Watched Undekhi Season 3 Web Series on Sony LIV. So, let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.

Cast: Harsh Chhaya, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Ankur Rathee, Surya Sharma, Anchal Singh and Varun Badola
Director: Ashish R Shukla
Release Date: 10th May 2024 on Sony LIV
Duration: 8 Episodes/ 40 Minutes

Story: Season 3 begins a couple of months after the last season ended. Rinku (Surya Sharma) is still rigorously looking for Samarth (Nandish Singh Sandhu) to exact retribution and subsequently refurbish his illegal drug business.

Teji’s (Anchal Singh) ploy to take over Atwal family’s power in her own hands leads papaji aka Surinder Singh Atwal (Harsh Chhaya take a hasty decision. The murder of a young woman that opened the first season of the show comes back to haunting the patriarch with a video of his on the scene surfacing and once again Rinku and Daman (Ankur Rathee) comes up in the picture to protect and defend him.

Inspector Ghosh (Dibyendu Bhattacharya) comes out of his self-inflicted guilt trip and goes to Manali again. He starts to tighten the noose around Papaji; the evidence this time is incriminating. Will Rinku be able to save his papaji when all the evidence is spilling out? Surely, he can’t trust anyone around as everyone has their own vested interests. All the answers lie in this eight-part series.

Papaji’s son Daman and daughter-in-law Teji are looking for an investor for the resort and intend to relocate abroad for a better life. Meanwhile, Teji’s friend from the videography team, Saloni (Ayn Zoya) who is the lone eyewitness surviving, seeks vengeance. Will she succeed?

Halfway down the line, the plot switches from a cat-and-mouse chase to an engaging drama with some new characters. The introduction of Rajeev Malhotra (Varun Badola) and his ambitions to expand illegal operations in Manali brings fresh challenges, setting the stage for new power dynamics and conflicts. Deepika (Shruthy Menon) is the Rajeev’s right-hand girl aka manager, is brutal and resembles a more sophisticated version of Rinku. What happened at the end and how everything is connected is all about this series.

4. Screenplay
5. Music

Negatives

3. Too many subplots
4. Last 2 episodes

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this web-series, planned to watch this series on premiere day as loved the trailer and liked all 2 previous seasons of this series.

Season 3 amps up the drama as the Atwal clan returns looking for vengeance and delves deeper into the depths of darkness, particularly as Papa Ji’s chaos uncovers long-buried secrets.

Similar to its previous seasons, Undekhi swaps gears to accelerate their blood-soaked conquests to satiate their selfish desires, taking us through countless twists and turns on perilous roads, putting everything and anyone in their path at stake. However, by infusing plenty of twists, dramas, action, and arresting performances, director Ashish R. Shukla does his best to recreate the enchantment of this crime thriller and entice you from the very first episode. However, the scenic beauty of Manali serves as a stark contrast to the darkness of the characters’ deeds, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the series. Each episode takes us on a rollercoaster ride of escapes, failures, and occasional victories, wrapped up in a web of emotions. There is a question posed at the makers that hint a fourth season at the end of the series. Despite this, the overarching storyline, especially Papaji’s mysterious past, keeps us hooked. The show’s setting in Manali adds to its appeal, offering viewers stunning visuals. Performances are top class, but Surya Sharma is a delight to watch onscreen as Rinku.

On the flipside, it can be difficult to keep track of the characters, their situation, and their selfish motives at times, and the murder case investigation takes forever, making it appear that justice will not be served. While the third season introduces multiple new characters that offer promise, some of the most interesting characters of the previous seasons are un-necessarily under-treated. It takes predictable turns after a slow-paced set of episodes half-way through only to meander further and stretch its course beyond a point of intrigue. The show runs out of steam and suspense quickly and turns repetitive. The duration of the show could have been at least 2 episodes shorter for same story to be told more engagingly.

Overall series retains its binge-watch quality even with a muddled third season. It also delivers on its promise of suspense and drama, but it has its flaws. While the performances are strong and the plot is engaging, pacing issues and underdeveloped characters hold it back. Series worth a watch, but it doesn’t quite reach its full potential. My view on this series Recommended
