Undekhi Season 2 Web Series Rating: 3.5 Stars

Just watched Undekhi Season 2 web series on Sony LIV. So let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.

Story: Season 1 had ended with a cliffhanger as DSP Ghosh (Dibyendu Bhattacharya) and Teji (Anchal Singh) try to save a very critical Koyal (Apeksha Porwal) from the clutches of Rinku (Surya Sharma). Season 2 begins soon after as the Atwals are hell-bent on finding the girl before she reports the murder that took place at the family’s resort during the wedding celebrations.

However, things turn in their favour when the ambulance meets with an accident and is thrown off a high cliff into the river, and everyone is convinced that Koyal cannot survive the fall in her condition. DSP returns to Kolkata as Koyal declared death by Police but she is saved by Abhaya (Meiyang Chang) who lives Pilgrimage. Teji who is waiting for her moment to take revenge for her father’s insult from her Atwal in-laws begins infiltrating the family’s business.

We are introduced to Samarth (Nandish Singh Sandhu) who runs the Azra Esher Pharma company’s Himachal operations alongside Atwal and acts as a business hurdle for them. Papaji (Harsh Chhaya) and Rinku desire to expand their pharmaceutical business—basically the supply of illegal drugs from Himachal to Punjab. And they have no boundaries when it comes to that.

In an effort to take Atwals down, Teji slowly begins to become one of them and become partner to Pharma company with her husband Daman (Ankur Rathee). Saloni (Ayn Zoya) and Shashwat (Sayandeep Sengupta) continue being on the run to save their lives. What happen next will Rinku able to kill all of them and extend his business to Punjab and how all of them are connected to each other is all about the story.

3. Story
4. Cinematography

Negatives

2. Climax
3. Few Loopholes

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I have watched the trailer of this series planned to watch in free time as trailer of new season is also amazing as well as watched the 1st season of this crime drama and loved it.

Undekhi 2 kicks off from the exact point where the first season ended. Rinku is hellbent to kill Koyal and the videographer team. His cat-and-mouse chase with DSP Ghosh is fast paced from the word go. The makers give us little time to brush up our memories. If you’re watching, you better have done a quick recap. But sadly, Ghosh vanishes from the scene for several episodes, only to reappear towards the end. And that’s because over the course of first five episodes, the plot completely shifts from Koyal’s revenge and Ghosh framing Papaji to the drug syndicate owned by Atwals that’s threatened by entry of a new nemesis, Samarth.

This is where things start getting complicated. We are so absorbed in the Papaji-Rinku-Ghosh-Koyal quartet that a brand new plotline regarding an illegal drugs business in the garb of a pharmaceutical company initially feels unnecessary and shoehorned. Though each episode brings a new twist to keep us engaged, the strain to keep the two parallel tracks (Koyal and Samarth) connected start showing. It seems the pressure is on the writers to generate enough content to create an (inevitable) third season of the show.

Series tries desperately to avoid the curse of second seasons. It’s evident that this pushed the team to the extremes, and they did succeed to an extent. Though some subplots could’ve been done away with. The series could’ve managed with a crisper editing to avoid the story going all over the place in some portions of second half. Overall it is a fitting sequel to the gritty crime drama, which is infused with high-octane action and sturdy performances from the cast. It also ensures a remarkable shift in dynamics amongst all the characters, especially women, making it an engrossing watch. Having said that, there is enough suspense for the next season for series fans. My View on this web-series Highly Recommended.
