Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Review: Enjoyable romantic drama with good amount of humor and emotion
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Movie Rating: 3 Stars
Finally watched Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar movie in Cinemas. Let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.
Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Anubhav Singh Bassi, Dimple Kapadia, Boney Kapoor, Hasleen Kaur, Inayat Verma and Monica Chaudhary
Director: Luv Ranjan
Release Date: 8th March 2023 in cinemas
Story: Rohan Arora aka Mickey (Ranbir Kapoor) and his best friend Manu Dabbas (Anubhav Singh Bassi) are rich brats, who along with running their several family businesses and also run a break-up business for fun and for some extra lucre. Their philosophy is that couples should rather separate amicably than waste time in dead relationships. They have their ethics, mind you. They only help unmarried people. Married couples are strictly told to sort their matter through court and counselling.
Manu is engaged to Kinchi (Monica Chaudhary) but is having second thoughts before their marriage. Trio head to Spain for a bachelor trip of sorts and Kinchi’s friend Tinni aka Nisha Malhotra (Shraddha Kapoor) also joins them there. While it’s love at first sight for Mickey, Tinni doesn’t mind having a holiday fling with him but doesn’t want a serious relationship. Mickey contrives to make her believe he’s really fallen for her and she finally consents. The relationship continues when they come to India.
Mickey’s family comprising his mother Renu Arora (Dimple Kapadia), father Ramesh Arora (Boney Kapoor), paternal grandmother Mrs. Arora (Jatinder Kaur), sister Minny (Hasleen Kaur), brother-in-law Ashish (Amber Rana) and niece Sweetu (Inayat Verma). Both families meet each other and gives nod for their marriage.
His family are everywhere together, be it lunch or dinner dates or cinema outings. Tinni, who lives independently from her parents finds it all a bit suffocating. She feels she won’t be able to handle the extra love all her life and decides to opt out of the relationship. Instead of making her feelings clear, however, she chickens out and unknowingly hires Mickey’s breakup agency. What happens next is all about this movie.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in cinemas only as loved the director earlier movies and this one look also refreshing.
Both belonging to wealthy Delhi families, Rohan Arora is besotted with Nisha Malhotra and the moment he sees her on their Spain vacation. The two hit it off in no time but modern love has a way of complicating things.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar story is entertaining and yet makes an important comment about the problems faced by today’s youth. The movie stays true to its genre, and at the same time, a neat family emotion runs in the background. These two elements are nicely balanced in the second half, and the film runs on a faster note in this hour. The conflict point between the lead pair is relevant and throws light on modern-day relationships. The movie doesn’t try hard to amuse you, and it just is a reflection of how present-day relationships are being affected. From the time the narrative shifts to India from Spain, things become racy, and the film turns entertaining. There is a surprise package in the movie that will entertain and surprise you all. Luv Ranjan’s direction is praiseworthy. The filmmaker has clearly evolved as a storyteller, and this is evident at several points in the film. He knows the art of giving audiences a fun time and also making their eyes moist. Performances are excellent.
On the flip side, the first hour is needlessly stretched, and the pacing is a tad slow here. The entire Spain portion is very boring, and the narrative in this particular episode is not at all appealing. The writing could have been a lot better here, which could have made the film even more interesting. In addition, the film is a bit long, and the first half could have been crispier. Also, a few portions went over the top. Apart from that Tinn hires Mickey for their breakup both unable to recognize their voice on call and that’s really does not go well and could have been done in another way for desire impact.
Overall, movie is an enjoyable rom com that also has a fine amount of emotions. There are many crowd-pleasing moments, but the best part about the film is the underlying family drama. Ranbir and Shraddha are solid in their roles and other artists nicely supported them. The plot that today’s youth will be able to relate to. It has its humor and heart in place. My view on this movie Recommended.
