The Great Weddings Of Munnes Web Series Rating: 3.5 Stars

Just watched The Great Weddings Of Munnes web series on Voot Select. So, let’s analyze the cast, story, release date, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.

Cast:Abhishek Banerjee, Barkha Singh, Sunita Rajwar, Paresh Ganatra, Sunil Chitkara and Aakash Dabhade
Director: Sunil Subramani
Release Date: 4th August 2022 (Voot Select)
Duration: 10 Episodes/ 25 Minutes

Story: The show begins with an antique-looking government office building where Munnes (Abhishek Banerjee) works as the marriage registrar which is quite ironic as he is not able to find a single bride for himself. He is average-looking and middle-class simpleton has had absolutely no chance with women or finding a partner in life.

He lives with loving Bua (Sunita Rajwar), gambler Fufa (Paresh Ganatra), aspiring influencer cousin (Chetan Sharma) and Tayaji (Sunil Chitkara) who always speaks negatively. His only friend Suresh (Aakash Dabhade) and family members ready to anything for his marriage.

However, coincidentally, he meets a beautiful girl named Mahi (Barkha Singh) in his workplace due to a piece of paper. He meets the girl and falls in love but ignores his feelings as he is sure that he can’t get this beautiful person to be his wife as he has been rejected many times in the past. His life completely changes when the same girl knocks at his door and asks him to marry her.

But his dreams get shattered again when Mahi Grandfather (Pankaj Dheer) family priest Muniji (Pankaj Berry) discloses some major issues with his horoscope and advises him to get married to another girl first and break it off in order to marry the love of his life. Then journey begins to almost all of India in order to find a girl who can be convinced to marry him just for a day so that his curse breaks and he can get married to Mahi. Will Munnes able to marry her is all about this series.

Positives
1. Excellent Performances
2. Direction
3. Screenplay
4. Story
5. Climax

Negatives
1. Length
2. Music
3. Unnecessary Sub-plots

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I have watched the trailer of this series planned to watch in free time because I liked the acting of Abhishek Banerjee in multiple series.

The story revolves around Munnes who is a middle-class working man who is having difficulty finding a bride for himself. His life ends up being a roller coaster ride when he falls in love with the beautiful sarvagun sampanna Mahi. He wants to marry her, but Munnes’s buri kismat follows him here as well, as a Pandit prophecy adds a twist to their love story on the day of their wedding. Is he ever going to get married?

In each episode of The Great Weddings Of Munnes, the protagonist finds a bride to marry for a day. Due to some major misfortunes, he never gets to marry even one. It is packed with funny dialogue and brilliant comic timing from the characters. From an average wedding to getting married to a witch, the show explores multiple genres, including comedy, drama, and horror. In the midst, the story might seem a little stretched out but director take on comedy in the show will keep making you laugh and amused. Series could have been a great watch only if the makers had represented the story in a crisp manner. seems interesting, but the story has several loopholes and is not executed well. 10 episodes for a simple story like this seem too stretched and make it boring at few places.

Despite its flaws, whatever is shown on the screen is enjoyable, but only because of the performances; the story lacks the gravitas to keep the audience interested. The series relies heavily on one-liners and the overall performance of the cast and lacks the laugh-out-loud moments that such a genre should have. Excellent performances by lead and supporting cast is cherry on the cake. My View on this web-series Highly Recommended.
