The Adam Project Review: Predictable yet entertaining sci-fi action comedy
The Adam Project Movie Rating: 3.5 Stars
Just watched The Adam Project movie on Netflix. So let’s focus on the cast, release date story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.
Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Walker Scobell, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana and Catherine Keener
Director: Shawn Levy
Release Date: 11th March 2022 on Netflix
Story: In a dystopian 2050, pilot Adam Reed (Ryan Reynolds) steals his time jet and escapes through time on a rescue mission to 2018. However, he accidentally crash-lands in 2022 instead where Adam meets his 12-year-old self (Walker Scobell) who is struggling with the recent death of their father Louis (Mark Ruffalo).
Adam reluctantly enlists his younger self’s help to repair his jet and reveals that he is looking for his wife Laura (Zoe Saldana) who was supposedly killed in a crash while on a mission to 2018. Adam is chased to 2022 by Maya Sorian (Catherine Keener) who is the leader of the dystopian world and her lieutenant Christos who attempt to apprehend Adam and take him back to 2050.
The Adams are rescued by Laura who reveals that she had escaped an assassination attempt on her and was left stranded in the past. Laura had learned that Sorian had traveled back in time and altered the past in order to give herself control of time travel and the future. Laura urges Adam to travel back to 2018 and destroy time travel, which was created by his father Louis, in order to set things right and save the future.
How Adams with the help of their father Louis save the future by destroying the time machine project is all about this movie
Positives
1. Excellent Performances
2. Screenplay
3. Direction
4. Climax
Negatives
1. Music
2. Story lacks Novelty
3. Predictable
Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on its premiere day because it looks entertaining and always loved Ryan Reynolds movies.
Adam Reed is a time-traveling pilot from a dystopian future where time itself has become commodified…or something. When his wife Laura goes missing, he uncovers a massive plot by those in power which threatens to weaponize time travel to conquer the world.
Time travel is a great concept for a movie premise. There is a sense of mystery and intrigue that revolves around the prospect of someone in the future meeting his past self. Shawn Levy’s The Adam Project is admittedly engaging a time-travelling pilot from the future crash lands at his childhood home and runs into his 12-year-old self. There are a lot of well-done VFX scenes that involve battleships and fight sequences, but what strikes you the most in the film is the emotional strife that Adam goes through. His scene with his mother at the bar stands out not just for the performances but for the way it is written. The constant battle between guilt, regret, the choices he made and flipping between parallel timelines makes the plot engaging.
Overall, movie is entertaining, it’s fast-paced and has dialogues that will leave you in splits. My view on this movie Highly Recommended if you are seeking a thrill ride in a universe that throws up unexpected surprises at every curve.
