Punjab Kings bowled out for 137 runs in 18.2 overs. Need a template to stop a powerful batting line-up? KKR have given us that. Umesh started off like he has done all season picking up a wicket in the very first over. He might have got just the one wicket in the powerplay today but that didn’t mean he stopped there, came back for his second spell and picked three more. The rest of the bowlers complemented him perfectly. Punjab Kings will look back and feel they could have paced the innings better. All the batters were in a hurry to score runs and none wanted to stick around to take the innings deep. If not for Rabada‘s cameo the final score would have been even more embarrassing. They have also left 10 balls out there and that might prove costly. KKR will fancy chasing this down. Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 31 runs of 9 balls and Kagiso Rabada scored 25 runs of 16 balls. Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target successfully in 15th over by scoring 1411/4 and won the game by 6 wickets. Of all the master-sloggers and of all the torture-inducers, Andre Russell takes the podium. And his tutorial gets another video lesson. He smiles, takes off his helmet, waves his bat around, with the crowd just not having enough. He walked in at 51/4, with Rahul Chahar having the batsmen in some sort of a tangle. But, well, he didn’t bother rebuilding. He swung, middled them all, and absolutely thwarted this chase. Okay, before we get sucked in and lose all perspective, let’s not forget the first innings here, for that was where the real difference was. 137 at the Wankhede with the dew, is not even close to being enough. At every point the batsmen thought of a recovery, Yadav destroyed those hopes. Andre Russell scored 70* runs of 31 balls and skipper Shreyas Iyer score 26 runs of 15 balls.
