Sunrisers Hyderabad bowled out for just 113 runs in 18.3 overs after batting first. The surface was difficult and not a belter but surely it was not a 113 kind of pitch. There was swing, bounce and grip KKR made the most of that by bowling in the right areas and never allowing SRH to get going. Starc once again struck in the first over and this time it was Abhishek who could got an absolute peach. Head managed to avoid Starc but succumbed to Vaibhav in the very next over. SRH’s top order woes in the last few games came to the fore again as Tripathi too departed inside the powerplay. KKR didn’t relent as they kept picking wickets at regular intervals, Markram and Klaasen got starts but could not convert them. Cummins played a cameo towards the end and got the total past 100. This is looking more like KKR’s final to lose at the moment unless SRH come up with a magical bowling performance. Skipper Pat Cummins scored 24 runs of 19 balls and Aiden Markram scored 20 runs of 23 balls. For KKR, Andre Russell pick 3 wickets for 19 runs in his 2.3 overs quota.

Chennai Super Kings chased down the target successfully by scoring 114/2 in 10.3 overs and become champions of IPL 2024. Right, this was how the finale panned out. Both teams got what they wanted at the toss. Starc and Vaibhav nipped out the SRH openers cheaply just like Qualifier 1. The Aussie pacer was almost impeccable in the powerplay. Nitish Reddy got outfoxed by Harshit Rana and Russell separated the South African pair. Varun Chakaravarthy removed Shahbaz and Abdul Samad failed to make an impact. Harshit’s slower ball got the better of Klaasen and he bowled a wicket-maiden. Narine was at his miserly best – 4-0-16-1. SRH got skittled out for 113 – lowest total in an IPL final – after opting to bat. In reply, Gurbaz got going with a boundary. Narine fell after smashing a six. Venkatesh Iyer came out all guns blazing – 4 6 6 vs Bhuvi and then 4 4 6 4 vs Natarajan. Highest powerplay score in an IPL final – 72/1. Venky smashed a 24-ball half-century and hit the winning runs as Kolkata cruised to a 8-wicket win with 57 balls to spare. . Venkatesh Iyer scored 52* runs of 26 balls and Rahmanullah Gurbaz score 39 runs of 32 balls. For SRH, Pat Cummins & Shahbaz Ahmed picks 1 wickets each.
