Punjab Kings scored 187/4 runs in their 20 overs after batting first. PBKS get a very commendable 187 on the board. Mayank found fielders with his shots and eventually fell to Theekshana. CSK bossed the powerplay. Then Rajapaksa came in and struggled to middle the ball. Pressure was on Dhawan, but the Indian opener took three fours off Mukesh’s third over to gain some momentum. Two left-handers at the crease meant CSK kept Jadeja and Santner away fearing the lefties taking toll. This is a key moment in the game because the ball was turning with bounce and CSK could have cut overs off their pacers. 110-run partnership ensured the base was there and then Livingstone unleashed on Pretorius to get some vital quick runs. Dhawan remained unbeaten on a day he completed 6000 IPL runs and 9000 T20 runs. CSK surely have conceded at least 10-15 more than what they would have expected. But this is a funny ground where you are not safe with any total. The cutters and turners for sure are gripping the pitch, but if you have the game to adapt you can score quite well too. Shikhar Dhawan scored 88* runs of 59 balls and Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 42 runs of 32 balls. For CSK, DJ Bravo pick 2 wicket for 42 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Chennai Super Kings unable to chased down the target and scored 176/6 in their 20 overs and lost the game by 11 runs. MS Dhoni pulled off a heist against Mumbai Indians a few days back, but he couldn’t do so tonight. With 27 runs required off the final over, it was always going to be a mountain to climb. But how about that knock by Ambati Rayudu? CSK were struggling to middle the ball before his arrival, but once Rayudu walked out into the middle, he attacked the bowlers right from the word go. He walked off the field in the first innings as he injured his hand while fielding at cover, but the innings he played despite that injury, it was quite a remarkable effort. That over of Sandeep Sharma where he hit a hat-trick of sixes was the highlight of the chase, and the strategic time-out following that over, might have helped Punjab regain their thoughts and take a breather. Arshdeep bowled a quality spell towards the end, and so did Kagiso Rabada as CSK were not able to take them on. Earlier in the day, it was due to the special knock by Dhawan that Punjab Kings managed to post such a daunting total in the first place. Rajapaksa played a pivotal role and Livingstone gave the finishing touches with his cameo. A close finish to the game, but Punjab Kings will take those two points. Ambati Rayudu scored 78 runs of 39 balls and Ruturaj Gaikwad score 30 runs of 27 balls. For PBKS, Rabada & Rishi Dhawan pick 2 wickets each.
