Delhi Capitals scored 159/7 runs in their 20 overs after batting first. Although momentum wise, it does look like Punjab have pulled it back towards the end rather well having given away just 10 runs off the last two overs, 159 is a neat score on this pitch. It’s slow, it’s turning, and there’s no dew. But like always, Delhi started off superbly in the powerplay, with Sarfaraz cutting loose straightaway for a 16-ball 32 cameo. Mitchell Marsh started off aggressively, switched down a couple of gears when wickets around him started to fall, and picked up a slight bit towards the end. But it was Liam Livingstone, who brought about the real damage, plucking out Warner right at the start, and then mixing them up superbly in the middle-overs to put the brakes. Right, this is one of those neither-here-nor-there targets, and it’s a massive match in the context of the points table strong>Mitchell Marsh scored 63 runs of 48 balls and Sarfaraz Khan scored 32 runs of 16 balls. Punjab Kings unable to chased the target and scored 142/9 in their 20 overs and lost the game by 17 runs. First time DC have won two games in a row this season. Been that kinda tournament for them. Also they have done the double against Punjab Kings this season. At no stage did the required run rate looked threatening, but the wickets column proved to be a massive setback as they suffered a terrible collapse which saw them lose 5 wickets in the space of 14 runs during the 5-10th over phase. The ever-impressive Jitesh Sharma waged a lone battle, but he was left with too much to do towards the end, eventually succumbing in the 18th over. If any, his knock ensured Punjab didn’t lose by a big margin which could prove very critical come the conclusion of their final game. Shardul Thakur‘s double-wicket blow at the edge of the powerplay opened the floodgates for the spinners to bowl a few tight overs and to DC’s delight, they broke the back of the middle-order with quick wickets, bowling very miserly while at it. All in all, a much-needed win for the Capitals who now have a chance to finish in the top two. Jitesh Sharma scored 44 runs of 34 balls and Jonny Bairstow score 28 runs of 15 balls. For DC, Shardul Thakur picks 4 wickets for 36 runs in his 4 overs quota.
