Tadka Movie Rating: 3 Stars
Just watched Tadka movie on Zee5 Premium. Let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.
Cast: Nana Patekar, Shriya Saran, Ali Fazal and Taapsee Pannu
Director: Prakash Raj
Release Date: 4th November 2022 on Zee5 Premium
Story: It is official remake of the 2011 Malayalam blockbuster Salt N’ Pepper which revolves around Tukraram (Nana Patekar) works in the state archaeological department in Goa and is a food lover. Siddharth (Ali Fazal) is Tukaram’s nephew who comes to stay with him while looking for a job.
Tukaram has a normal life until he gets a mis-dialed phone call from Madhura (Shriya Saran) who is a RJ living with house owner Samantha (Lillete Dubey) and her daughter Nicole (Taapsee Pannu). Madhura rings to order a special Aloo Parantha from a restaurant but gets Tukaram instead. Their conversations do not go well at first, but a long-distance romance develops due to their common interest is cooking and food.
Tukaram and Madhura both get the jitters before their first face-to-face meeting as each becomes conscious of their own physical appearances. So instead of them Nicole and Siddharth meet as substitutes. What happen next is all about this movie.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in my free time as trailer looks good to me which revolves around a middle-aged Tukaram is passionate about food and archaeology but a misplaced call from Madhura that adds the tadka to his life. While love simmers, Nicole and Sidharth’s story spices up too.
The story is unique in that it features food as an important character in the film. Initially, this old-fashioned romance with the natural comedy ka tadka is quite appealing. However, it quickly becomes sluggish, and the situations become monotonous to watch. The plot is predictable as it is based on a theme seen in numerous Bollywood films: “What begins as a war of words between the two people eventually develops into feelings for each other.” But what sets this story apart is the lead couple’s passion for cooking and eating good food, which strengthens their bond even more.
Tadka is such an odd movie. There are two storylines running parallel in the movie until they invariably come together somewhere, and honestly, the movie forces the story forward when it’s not really necessary. Each and every scene, whether necessary or not, are so long and watered down. The romance also loses steam after a while because neither of our protagonists is secure enough to make their own decisions or in themselves. Conflict is a necessary part of shows, but forcing that conflict is a hassle that doesn’t feel genuine and, thus, doesn’t leave an impression. Performances from Nana Patekar and Shriya Sharan are very impressive. But I am still confused as to why Taapsee Pannu and Ali Fazal are in this movie
Overall, movie has some genuinely sweet and heartwarming moments and it’s a sweet drama which ends on a high but in between falls off the rails quite a bit. It comes across as a bland blend of food and love. A zingier love story would have made it more endearing to watch. My view on this movie Time Pass.
