South Africa beat India in T20 World Cup 2026-cricketmovie.com

T20 World Cup 2026: South Africa thrashed Team India by 76 runs in their first Super 8 game at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

Super 8 (India Vs South Africa)
Game Date: 22nd February 2026
Details:
South Africa skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bat first Super 8 game against Team India at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. No changes in Indian Team and surprisingly Axar Patel is not playing today as well, and Washington Sundar is playing.

South Africa scored 187/7 in their 20 overs after batting first. Stubbs’s two sixes have given some serious momentum to this South Africa’s batting effort on a pitch which has a bit in it for the pacers. India started like a dream with the new-ball pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh combining to reduce them to 20/3. In came David Miller and he immediately put the pressure back on India with some attacking cricket. Dewald Brevis joined him and the pair were involved in a 50-ball 97-run stand for the 4th wicket. But just as they looked destined to bat India out of the game, Bumrah came back and so did the support pack to pull things back nicely. Only 39 runs were conceded in the period between the 14th and the 19th over, but Hardik’s 20-run 20th over boosted South Africa’s score. Bumrah was outstanding, Varun Chakaravarthy had a rare off day, but India are in for a tough run chase. David Miller scored 63 runs of 35 balls and Dewald Brevis scored 45 runs of 29 balls. For Team India, Jasprit Bumrah picked 3 wickets for 15 runs in his 4 overs.

Team India failed to chase the target and bowled out for 111 runs in 18.5 overs and lost the game by 76 runs. South Africa definitely brought their A-game today here in Ahmedabad against the defending champions. India, chasing for the first time in this World Cup, lost Ishan Kishan for a duck. Tilak tried to be aggressive and nicked off. Abhishek finally got off the mark in this compeition but South Africa kept it tight against him and Jansen deceived him with the knuckle ball. Just like their opponents, India lost three wickets inside the powerplay, but the hosts couldn’t find a way to put any sort of pressure on the South African bowlers. The move to promote Washington didn’t work and SKY fell for a scratchy 18 with Bosch accounting for both of them. Power-hitters – Hardik and Dube – struggled to time the ball in their 35-run stand. Just after the drinks break, Maharaj picked three wickets in an over which reduced India to 88/8. Dube struck a few boundaries and top-scored with 42 but it was one-way traffic throughout the innings. Shivam Dube scored 42 of 37 balls and Hardik Pandya scored 18 runs of 17 balls. For South Africa, Marco Jansen picked 4 wickets for 22 runs in his 3.5 overs.

SA: 187/7 in 20 overs
IND: 111 all out in 18.5 overs

Match Result: South Africa won by 76 runs
Man of the Match: David Miller
