South Africa Tour Of Sri Lanka 2021: First ODI series win in 18 months for the Sri Lanka after winning the 3rd and final ODI by 78 runs at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo . Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

3rd ODI (South Africa Vs Sri Lanka)
Game Date: 7th September 2021
Details:
Sri Lanka Captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss again and opt to bat first in the 3rd and final ODI against South Africa. No changes in Proteas while 3 changes in Sri Lanka Team and Maheesh Theekshana makes his debut.

Sri Lanka scored 203/9 runs in 50 overs after batting first. Something for their spinners to bowl at on a very dry surface that is spinning, at times, square. Maharaj realised that straightaway and brought himself on in the 2nd over. Gave Markram not a regular spinner 10 overs and used 4 spinners in total to exploit the conditions. The quartet did their job with wickets being shared. Charith Asalanka once again stood out with a composed 47, and at the end Chameera swung his bat around to make a crucial 29. At one stage, Sri Lanka looked like they will struggle to get to 200, but eventually have done so. Will that be enough in the decider? Well the pitch will aid their spinners and under lights, it will be interesting to see whether it skids on and if there’s any dew on offer. Charith Asalanka scored 47 of 71 balls and Dhananjaya de Silva scored 31 of 44 balls. For South Africa Keshav Maharaj pick 3 wickets for 38 runs in his 10 overs quota.

South Africa unable to chase down the target and all out for 135 runs in 30 overs and won the game by 78 runs and won the series by 2-1. The Sri Lankan celebrations at the end of the game show how much it means to them. A first ODI series win in 18 months for the Lions. The decision at the toss to bat first has proven to be right for Shanaka and his men. Maharaj his counterpart felt that the wicket wouldn’t change too much as the day goes on but that hasn’t been the case. Anyway the Sri Lankan spinners spun a web and were helped by a couple of wickets from Chameera at the top. The three early wickets set South Africa back and they didn’t have a clue on how to handle the spinning-ball. Klaasen tried to disrupt the spinners with his unorthodox style of play, but he was done in by the debutant Maheesh Theekshana with a lovely slider. Eventually 203 proved to be too many for the visitors. This is a young South African batting lineup and this series shows, still work needs to be done when it comes to playing spin in these conditions. Heinrich Klaasen scored 22 of 30 balls and Janneman Malan scored 18 of 19 balls. For Sri Lanka Maheesh Theekshana pick 4 wickets for 37 runs in his 10 overs quota.
