Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in my free time because trailer looks amazing and also it is last movie of late Rishi Kapoor ji.

B. G. Sharma is a 58-year old widower and a middle class man living in West Delhi. He is one of millions of faceless people in a mundane routine called life. One fine day, the company he has worked for his entire life, lays him off. A man of many prejudices and limited knowledge, Sharma struggles to cope with this beast called retirement. He keeps finding ways to stay relevant, but only ends up getting in his two sons’ ways. The only time he really comes into his own is when he is in the kitchen. He is a cook nonpareil, waiting to be discovered, not yet fully aware of his culinary superpower. Until one day, he comes into contact with a bunch of merry women. They rekindle in Sharma, a passion for cooking and life in general, that was missing from his life. What follows is the mysterious and hilarious double life of super chef Sharma, as he overcomes his own as well as society’s prejudices, on his way to finding meaning in life. ”

Sharmaji Namkeen story idea is quite nice because it delves into the minds of a middle-class family’s members. The drama is easily identifiable because everyone must’ve experienced something or the other about it at some point in his/her life. The real-life joys, sorrows, frustrations and insecurities of middle-class people have been brought out well. Direction is also very nice and made a realistic and heartwarming film with characters which are equally real.

The beauty of this film is that it never gets heavy or depressing. A few developments however, defy logic and are childish. On the flipside, the younger son’s track fails to entice. It seemed like the track of him failing was just added for the heck of it. Secondly, the finale, though funny, seems unconvincing and hence, some viewers might not appreciate it, especially since the rest of the film is in a realistic space. In several places, there’s a lot of switching that happens between the two actors. Overall it is a heartwarming film. Despite the shortcomings, it will leave viewers smiling. It’ll also benefit and stand out as it’s the last film of Rishi Kapoor. My view on this movie Highly Recommended
