Royal London Series 2022: Reece Topley best ever bowling figure keeps his team alive in ODI Series. England won the 2nd ODI by 100 runs against Team India and level the series 1-1 at Lords, London. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

2nd ODI (India Vs England)
Game Date: 14th July 2022
Details:
India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss again and elected to field first in the 2nd ODI against England at Lords, London. Virat Kohli is playing today in the place of Shreyas Iyer while England team remain unchanged for this game.

England bowled out for 246 runs in 49 overs after batting first. Now, this might not be as exceptional as their performance the other day but it’s still a very fine bowling effort from India. Having won the toss, Rohit had no hesitation to bowl on a track that had some moisture in it initially. But unlike The Oval track, the surface here did dry up rather quickly and was a much better surface to bat on. Which is what making this bowling performance laudable. Several English batters got starts but nobody really kicked on, and they also endured a mini collapse of sorts, slipping from 72/1 to 102/5. Chahal was the star performer with some brave middle-overs bowling and almost all of his strikes were crucial, none more than that of Bairstow just when the Yorkshireman was threatening to go big. That scalp was the start of India’s resurgence in the game and if not for the Moeen-Willey partnership, the score could have been much lower. Especially if the latter’s catch was taken by Prasidh at fine leg early in the innings. India’s bowling in general was spot on, except Prasidh at times. This is not an ultimate batting surface, but 246 definitely is around 30-40 runs less than par you’d think. Moeen Ali scored 47 runs of 64 balls and David Willey scored 41 runs of 47 balls. For Team India, Yuzvendra Chahal picks 4 wickets for 47 runs in 10 overs quota.

Team India chased down the target successfully by scoring 114/9 in 18.4 overs and won the game by 10 wickets. And India are done with their thumping. As if knocking England out for 110 wasn’t bad enough already, they’ve reached 111 without losing a single wicket. A 50-overs-a-side contest doesn’t last a total of 50 overs. It’s been that lopsided. This was meant to be a day-nighter! Rohit Sharma is a pro at bossing these small chases with his aggressive approach to just stamp the opposition out of the contest, and he did just that today. England’s bowlers were extremely keen to bowl short to him despite the ball seaming around, and he just kept smoking them into the stands at fine leg for fun. Shikhar Dhawan, who’s now playing just the ODI format, which is the rarest of the three, was scratchy at the start owing to his lack of match time, but then steadied himself towards the end as he found his timing. Nevertheless, it’s the first innings, or rather Bumrah’s first over, where the game the decided. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 76* of 58 balls and Shikhar Dhawan scored 31 runs of 54 balls. No any England bowlers picks any wickets.
