Story: Story is inspired by tragic love story of Mahesh Bhatt and Parveen Babi. Ranjhish Hi Sahi is Urdu ghazal written by Pakistani poet, Ahmad Faraz, made popular by the legendary Mehdi Hassan’s voice. Shankar Vatts (Tahir Raj Bhasin) is a flop film-maker in search of his first big hit. He is so consumed by his profession and its failure that he is hardly home to take care of his family which includes his wife Anju (Amrita Puri), daughter Aarti, Mother Rukhsar (Zarina Wahab) and brother Ganesh (Paras Priyadarshan). He is mostly drunk and sleeping on the footpath.

On the other hand Amna Parvez (Amala Paul) is at the peak of her acting career but her personal life is a complete mess. While no one wants to work with Shankar because of his track record and blunt attitude and Amna is struggling to keep up with her work because of her messy love life. She’s dating an actor Zubair (Rajat Kaul) who is cheating on her. Shankar grabs Amna’s attention and plans to make a film with her. She refuses his offer but their relationship takes off.

Shankar who is a passionate yet dejected director who has continuously failed to prove his mettle in showbiz hence he is working on 4th film with so many hassles finally another industry tycoon Jagmohan Seth (Saurabh Sachdeva) allowed to release his film with his film.

The story also throws light on Amna being diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and how Shankar tries his best to help her along with her assistant Mary (Naina Shareen) and driver Abdul (Madan Deodhar). How Shankar manage his personal and profession life is all about this series.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I have watched the trailer of this series planned to watch in free time because of two reasons because it’s based on true events and I am big fan of Tahir Raj Bhasin acting.

The series revolves around an extramarital relationship between Shankar Vats who is a struggling filmmaker and Aamna Parvez who is one of the top actresses of the 1970s. Created by Mahesh Bhatt, this fictional drama is loosely inspired by real-life events and incidents about his relationship with yesteryear diva Parveen Babi.

After several big screen iterations of the story of Mahesh Bhatt’s life and loves, it is now the turn of an eight-part web series to revisit the producer-director-writer’s early years as a struggling filmmaker grappling with the fallout of an extra-marital affair and his vexed equations with the industry. The result is desultory. The show pans out in two time-frames – the 1970s and 2005, the year of Babi’s death. There is, in addition, a brief passage that goes all the way back to 1959 to bring out an important aspect of the male protagonist’s relationship with his mother.

Unfortunately, that’s where it seems he took ample time to build the storyline and the many characters with plenty of going back and forth. And it isn’t until the later part of the fifth episode that the pace begins to pick up. Ranjish Hi Sahi is like a nostalgic trip for those following the Hindi film industry since the 1970s. And even for those who haven’t seen the movies of yore, it’s a good time pass for its interesting narrative, versatile soundtrack and wonderful performances. My View on this web-series Time Pass only if you are interested to know tragic love story of Mahesh Bhatt and Parveen Babi.
