West Indies scored 157/7 in their 20 overs. They have recovered rather well to pinch 61 off the last five overs, but still, in the larger scheme of things with the dew coming down as well, 157 is a pretty undercooked total. The Indian leg-spin duo were really good in the middle overs, with Bishoi in particular impressing big time on his debut, fizzing the ball through and bamboozling most batsmen. The West Indians did get off to a pretty good start in the powerplay with Kyle Mayers cutting loose, but their strategy to promote Chase, Powell and Akeal over Pollard backfired. Pooran took a bit of time to get going, but then struck a few big ones at the death to compensate for lost time. Right then, it’s going to need something really special from their bowlers to defend this. Nicholas Pooran scored 61 of 43 balls and Kyle Mayers scored 31 of 24 balls. For India Harshal Patel & Ravi Bishnoi pick 2 wickets each.

Team India chased down the target successfully by scoring 162/4 in 18.5 overs. The scorecard might suggest it was an easy chase, but India were made to sweat after the first five overs as the spinners got stuck into Ishan Kishan who failed to find boundaries, and inevitably allowed the required rate to shoot over 8.5. At one point, the hosts didn’t have a boundary for 27 balls, and it needed the arrival of Suryakumar Yadav to regain some momentum and get ahead of the game while at it. Despite the stutter in the middle-order, SKY and Venkatesh Iyer put in the finishing touches with 23 runs off 2 overs from Cottrell and Shepherd. All said and done, India will not be particularly happy with their approach against spin as they allowed 9 successive overs of spin through the middle overs, struggling to find boundaries and gifting 2 wickets while attempting to slog their way out of trouble. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 40 of 19 balls and Ishan Kishan scored 35 of 42 balls. For West Indies Roston Chase pick 2 wickets for just 14 runs in his 4 overs.
