4th T20 (India Vs South Africa)
Game Date: 17th June 2022
Details:
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss again and elected to bowl first in the 4th T20 against Team India at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. Team India remain unchanged for this game.

Three changes in South Africa and they have included Quinton de Kock, Marco Jansen and Lungi Ngidi in the place of injured Kagiso Rabada, Wayne Parnell and Reeza Hendricks.

Team India scored 169/6 runs in their 20 overs after batting first. 73 runs off the last five overs. But getting only 56 in the first 10 might have left India 15-20 runs short because Karthik and Hardik showed it was a good pitch to bat on. Unlike the previous games where they had got good starts, India were rocked early and were three down in 6.1 overs, Pant and Hardik steadied the innings with some cautious batting until the skipper chased after a wide one again. Karthik then walked out to the middle and took 4-5 balls to get going, once he did the carnage started and he was the enforcer in the 65-run partnership. He even got to his maiden T20I fifty and has given India a fighting total. Dinesh Karthik scored 55 runs of 27 balls and Hardik Pandya scored 46 runs of 31 balls. For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi pick 2 wickets for 20 runs in his 3 overs.

South Africa unable to chase the target and bowled out for 87/9 in 16.5 overs and lost the game by 82 runs. Their skipper Temba Bavuma injured and retired hurt. The fireworks go off at the ground. India go into Bangalore with the series alive, and with the momentum firmly under their wings. This pitch was turning into some sort of a minefield towards the end of it, and South Africa’s batting just couldn’t handle the heat. They kept playing similar shots, and kept falling to similar dismissals. The ball was spitting around, and India’s bowlers just kept it simple with their right lines into the pitch. Pretorius sold Quinton down the river, and then fell for a painful six-ball duck. Klaasen, Miller, Rassie and Jansen swung at everything, connected a few, missed a few more, and perished to end up with a massive 82-run defeat against their name. It’s not that the match was ever out of India’s grasp, but the 14th over, where Avesh Khan picked up a wicket every alternate ball, was the final nail in the coffin. Rassie van der Dussen scored 20 runs of 20 balls and Quinton de Kock score 14 runs of 13 balls. For Team India, Avesh Khan pick 4 wickets for 18 runs in his 4 overs quota.
