New Zealand bowled out for just 60 runs in 16.5 overs. Blackcaps have been knocked down for a paltry score of 60 in the first T20I of the series. That was a really embarrassing performance by the visitors. Both the debutants departed without troubling the scorers and other NZ batsmen weren’t able to contribute much either. Nicholls and Latham had a partnership somewhat, but the Blackcaps fell down like ninepins once that stand was broken. The spinners choked the opposition right from the word go, and never let the visitors bounce back till the end. Mustafizur ended with three wickets to his name, but Saifuddin got the two priced wickets, that of Latham and Nicholls. Bangladesh successfully chased down the target and scored 62/3 in 15 overs and won the game by 7 wickets. Now they have lead of 1-0 in this series with 4 more T20’s to go. A commanding victory for the hosts who have overpowered the inexperienced Kiwis in brutal fashion and almost bullied the batting line-up into submission attacking with spin from the very beginning to secure Bangladesh’s first win over the Kiwis in men’s T20Is. No one showed character or adaptability, other than Latham and Nicholls, and once they were rolled over for their joint-lowest score in T20Is even the early wickets by New Zealand’s spinners didn’t help as the experienced trio of Shakib, Mushy and Mahmudullah nudged and nurdled their way to the paltry target. Shakib Al Hasan scored 25 of 33 balls and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 16* of 26 balls. For New Zealand Ajaz Patel, Cole McConchie and Rachin Ravindra picks 1 wicket each.
