Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this web-series, planned to watch this series in my free time. Series is based on a gangster of that era who left the underworld, but after so many years, destiny brings him back on that route.
Murshid is all about politics, manipulation, competing gangs, family turmoil, and the vibrant hues of Mumbai. This multi-layered web series concentrates on multiple historical periods and will constantly be moving between past and present, bringing a fusion of secrets and narrative twists to keep you on the edge of your toes. However, the timeline juggling does seem appalling at places. A couple of sections in the plot may seem to drag a little, but each episode ends with an enticing tease towards the next one. The short duration of the episodes works in the show’s favor, making it a binge-worthy experience that never feels overwhelming. While gangster dramas are a dime a dozen, it’s rare to find one that balances a strong storyline with consistently compelling characters. Actor Kay Kay Menon is the center of attraction in this series, and he is reason I watched this series as always loved his performances.
The series often suffers from low lighting. This makes it difficult to follow the show. More so, with new characters introduced in every episode with no proper background, it gets difficult to follow the show to the end. There’s an inconsistency in location as well as background music. While planning to go to Mumbai, the scene shows Worli sea-face in the background. It is tough to ignore these factors but if you do, the show is more or less bearable, mainly because of what Kay Kay Menon brings to the table. Unfortunately, he’s not on screen throughout the show. Overall, series is a slow-paced show which tests your patience in many moments. So, if good acting is what you’re looking for, and you’re a Kay Kay Menon fan (which most of us are), then you should not miss out on this one, since the actor gives you the most with minimal work. My view on this series Time Pass.
