Mirzapur 2 Web Series Review: It delivers what it promised but with slow narration and some force-fitted sub plots
Mirzapur 2 Web Series Rating: 3 stars

Just Watched Mirzapur 2 Web Series on Amazon Prime Video. So let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.

Cast: Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu Sharmaa, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, Amit Sial, Isha Talwar, Priyanshu Painyuli, Anjum Sharma, Vijay Varma
Director: Gurmmeet Singh and Mihir Desai
Release Date: 23rd Oct 2020 (On Amazon Prime Video)
Duration: 10 Episodes/ 45-55 Minutes

Story: It is sequel of an action crime thriller Mirzapur. It is one of the most popular web-series in India and its sequel was eagerly awaited and arguably is the most awaited web series of 2020. Tt revolves around drugs, guns, murders and lawlessness. It depicts the putrescence, governance and rule of mafia dons and the rivalry and crime prevailing in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh.

The show picks up where Mirzapur ended. After the flashback of previous season we see Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal), Golu (Shweta Tripathi Sharma) and Dimpy (Harshita Gaur) who are on the run, which is a tad difficult as Guddu has been shot in the knee by Munna on wedding reception in the climax of season 1.

On the other hand, we see Akhandanand Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) sitting on the bedside of injured son Munna Tripathi (Divyendu Sharma). Home Minister J P Yadav gets lambasted by the Chief Minister Surya Pratap Yadav for not being able to control the violence in Uttar Pradesh at a time when elections are round the corner. J P Yadav goes and blasts Kaleen Bhaiya for the menace and ask to handover Munna.

On the other hand Munna takes the control of Jaunpur which is taken care by Sharad Shukla (Anjum Sharma) son of Rati Shankar Shukla who was shot dead by Guddu Pandit in first season. Munna expects Sharad to obviously retaliate. To his surprise, Sharad agrees and asks Munna to let him rule Jaunpur under his guidance and Kaleen Bhaiya was also surprised and impressed with Munna and thought now he is capable of succeeding him.

Kaleen Bhaiya directly meets CM Yadav and strikes a deal with him. He promises to increase his vote base in Mirzapur and control gun violence. In return, he requests Yadav ji to remove J P Yadav’s interference in his life. With the support of Kaalen Bhaiya CM wins the election again and married her daughter Madhuri Yadav (Isha Talwar) with Munna as they both get closed during election campaign.

We have seen some new characters Tyagi’s (Vijay Varma) from Bihar and how they are connected with Mirzapur and what happened to them in last. Will Golu and Bablu able to take revenge? Why Sharad easily gives the control to Munna and what happened to Kaleen Bhaiya and Munna is all about the series.

Positives
1. Pankaj Tripath and ensemble cast and their superlative performances
2. Story
3. Background music
4. Climax

Negatives
1. Some subplots feel force-fitted
2. Length of this series
3. Screenplay
4. Mediocre direction

Durgesh Tiwary’s View :Without any doubt it is one of the fav web series I have seen and was waited for this web-series since it’s announcement. Trailer and promo’s also able to create good hype.

First few episodes were mind blowing but I was bit bored in the middle episodes and length is series is too long which could have been shortened. But interesting twists and turns make this entertaining revenge drama, despite the slow narrative and the lack of sufficient light and funny moments. It has unbelievable craze so there is no recommendation required but it’s not sequel I was expected. But good part is third season will come and hoping for a memorable end.
