Team India scored massive 237/3 runs in 20 overs after batting first. Officially, today is a day to remember non-violence in Indian history but the cricket team will have none of it. This has been as violent an innings as it can be. Of course, the shots were eye-pleasing mostly and classy but the effect was carnage. Pure carnage. The openers started it, showing high intent, particularly KL Rahul who was in that zone of his where no bowler seems good enough to stop him. Rohit too looked good in his stay at the crease and the duo’s stand set the platform for India’s best T20 batter to make merry. As it is, SKY loves to get going from the outset, we saw that last game too in testing bowling conditions. Today, with a good foundation and a better batting track, along with some lousy bowling, he just tore the South African attack to shreds. Kohli too had some fun of his own and if not for a run out between the two, we may have seen some more entertainment from SKY. But he still did enough to damage the bowlers and entertain the crowd. None of the Proteas bowlers had an answer to the onslaught and it’s an evening they’d love to forget. Now, these are decent batting conditions even if not as good as India made it to be, but South Africa have a mountain to climb. Heck, they have to scale Mount Everest here. Surya Kumar Yadav scored 61 runs of 22 balls and KL Rahul scored 57 runs of 28 balls. For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj picks 2 wickets for 23 runs in his 4 overs quota.

South Africa unable to chased the target and scored 221/3 in their 20 overs and lost the game by 16 runs. First things first: India have sealed yet-another bilateral series, and this this is India’s first T20I series win against South Africa at home, ever! It’s a big deal. It’s not often that South Africa come into a series with a lot of expectations. But they did this time around. They were on a winning roll, they seemed to have had most boxes checked, they even came over early to prepare. But they’ve been totally and comprehensively rolled over. A cheap bundling out in Trivandrum, and now quite a pasting in Guwahati. This second innings was almost a formality. Bavuma looked completely at sea, Rossouw fell early, Quinton endured a painful stay, where he batted through the innings, but just couldn’t get going. David Miller just kept swinging, kept connecting them off the middle, but alas, it was all too alone, and all too little against the mountain that India amassed. Still, although this 16-run margin suggests this one was quite close, in reality, it wasn’t. The Proteas were never in it. They were merely playing catch up. David Miller scored 106* of 47 balls and Quinton de Kock scored 69* runs of 48 balls. For Team India, Arshdeep Singh pick 2 wickets for 62 runs in their 4 over.
