Team India won 1st ODI by 67 runs-cricketmovie.com

Mastercard ODI Series 2023: Team India won 1st ODI by 67 runs against Sri Lanka despite Shanka excellent unbeaten century at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Now I will share the details of this game in my own way.

1st ODI (India Vs Sri Lanka)
Game Date: 10th January 2023
Details:
Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to field first in the 1st ODI game against Team India at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.

Team India scored massive 373/7 runs in their 50 overs after batting first. A massive total put on the board by the Indians, but Sri Lanka know they aren’t out of the contest as yet. The pitch is flat, the outfield lightning fast and the dew is expected to settle in, if they start well, we could be in a for a riveting chase. The hosts were off to a great start as Rohit and Gill added 143 for the 1st wicket. Both made half-centuries and that set the tone for a big score. Virat Kohli then made most of the platform, there were useful cameos from Shreyas and KL, but the wheels did fall off towards the end as the tailenders struggled to find the boundaries in the last couple of overs. Kohli’s dismissal eventually costing his team at least 10-15 extra runs, but his 113 was magical before he was dropped twice, and he did make Sri Lanka pay. Virat Kohli scored 113 runs of 87 balls and skipper Rohit Sharma scored 83 runs of 67 balls. For Sri Lanka, Kasun Rajitha picks 3 wickets for 88 runs in his 10 overs quota.

Sri Lanka unable to chase the target and scored 306/8 in their 50 overs and lost the game by 67 runs. India, I guess put the game to rest with a mammoth 373. But Lanka made it easier by starting off slowly. They lost a couple of wickets early and that dented them badly. DDS and Nissanka tried their best but their efforts never scaled giant proportions as per the demands of the chase. Shanaka came in late, a little too late, got a tremendous ton but that only reduced the margin of defeat. The 9th wicket stand added 100 runs but as mentioned was a case of too little too late. Earlier, India were propelled by a ton from Kohli and fities by the openers. Skipper Dasun Shanaka scored 108* of 88 balls and Pathum Nissanka scored 72 runs of 80 balls. For Team India, Umran Malik picks 3 wickets for 57 runs in his 8 overs.
