Lahore ODI 2022: Pakistan registered their highest successful run-chase in ODIs. They beat Australia by 6 wickets in the 2nd ODI and level the series 1-1. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

Australia scored 348/8 runs in their 50 overs after batting first. Pakistan did limit the damage a bit in the last 10 overs but this is still a formidable total by the Aussies. Yet again, Head set things up for the visitors with a counter-attacking knock, partnering well with McDermott who got to his maiden ODI ton. The duo’s partnership flattened Pakistan considerably, and then the rest in the middle order all chipped in with useful knocks to ensure that the platform wasn’t wasted. Wasim Jr and Rauf were impressive, given that the pitch wasn’t the easiest to bowl on and they did limit the scoring rate to some extent. But the others did go the distance and even Shaheen, despite getting wickets, was expensive by his standards. The fifth bowler quota were targetted by the Aussies and to good effect too. The slower ones are gripping just a bit but overall, it’s a good deck with dew also expected. Ben McDermott scored 104 runs of 108 balls and Travis Head scored 89 of 70 balls. For Pakistan Shaheen Afridi pick 4 wickets for 63 runs in his 10 overs quota.

Pakistan chased down the target successfully by scoring 349/4 in 49 overs and won the game by 6 wickets and level the series 1-1. A 118-plus opening stand set things up perfectly for skipper Babar Azam who guided the chase with his ever-impressive composed approach, helping Imam stay calm and helping him claim his milestone while at it sans any hiccups. At no stage did Pakistan look like losing during the chase. It was that phenomenal. 118, 119, 80 is the respective partnership runs for the first three wickets and that tells you everything you need to know. Of course, led by the brilliant tons from Babar and Imam, Pakistan learnt from their mistakes and aced the chase to perfection. The brisk approach was very much evident throughout and never allowed Australia’s premier bowler, Zampa, to settle in. And to imagine that they barely offered any chances makes the chase seem even more impressive. Skipper Babar Azam scored 114 of 83 balls and Imam-ul-Haq scored 106 of 97 balls. For Australia Adam Zampa pick 2 wickets for 71 runs in his 10 overs.
