Game Result: India won by 3 Wickets
Series Result: India won by 2-0
Man of the Match: Ravichandran Ashwin
Man of the Series: Cheteshwar Pujara

Now I am going to share day-to-day activity of this test match with all the details, records and milestones in my way.

Day 1
Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss in the 2nd & final test and decided to bat first against Indian Cricket Team at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.

Bangladesh bowled out for 227 runs in their 1st innings. A clinical performance by India has helped them restrict Bangladesh to an ordinary total with nearly 60 minutes remaining in the day. Not sure if the light will be suitable enough though. For India, Umesh Yadav and Ashwin picked up four wickets each as they were the pick of the bowlers. Unadkat was impressive on his comeback too, meanwhile for Bangladesh it was Mominul Haque who did bulk of the scoring. The left-hander, on his comeback – looked calm and composed as he witnessed the Bangladesh batters getting dismissed from the other end. There were handy contributions from Shanto, Litton, Rahim, in fact most of the batters, but none were able to convert those starts. Going to be a tricky phase for the Indian batters against the new ball, especially with light fading. Mominul Haque scored 84 runs and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 26 runs. For Team India, Umesh Yadav & Ravichandran Ashwin picks 4 wickets each.

Team India scored 19/0 on day 1 stumps. Both openers survive for the crucial 10 overs of the day, and they are still trailing by 208 with 10 wickets in hand.

BAN: 227
IND: 19/0 on day 1 stumps

Day 2
Team India bowled out for 314 runs in their first innings. They have important role of 87 runs. Decent fightback by Bangladesh after tea as India lost their last six wickets for just 61 runs. But the damage was already done in the post-lunch session when Pant and Iyer went bonkers against some listless bowling. Both fell short of deserving centuries, but their counterattacking partnership may well be the defining moment of this Test match. Shakib and Taijul sliced through the lower order who all threw their bats around a bit to get the lead past the 85-run mark. The two-left arm spinners were the standout bowlers for Bangladesh while Taskin’s spell just after lunch was also laudable. India have Pant and Iyer to thank because this is clearly a pitch that’s getting tougher to bat by the minute and lead looks like gold dust at the moment. Advantage India and Bangladesh have a tricky little passage to deal with before stumps. Rishabh Pant Scored 93 runs and Shreyas Iyer scored 87 runs. For Bangladesh, Taijul Islam & Shakib Al Hasan picks 4 wickets each.

Bangladesh scored 7/0 on day 2 stumps and they are still trailing by 80 runs with 10 wickets in hand.

BAN: 227 & 7/0 on day 2 stumps
IND: 314

Day 3
Bangladesh bowled out for 231 runs in their 2nd innings and set the target of 145 runs to win this test and series. That’s a pretty impressive effort, given the situation they were in, especially before Nurul Hasan walked in to bat. The lead was a pretty paltry one before Nurul entered. However, the partnership between him and Litton, helped Bangladesh fightback and shifted the momentum in their favour. Once he departed, it was the partnership between Litton and Taskin that stretched the lead further. Litton Das was cleaned up due a jaffa by Siraj, but it was a memorable and a fighting knock by him. Taskin hit a few boundaries after his departure and helped Bangadesh push their lead closer to the 150-run mark. Also, the couple of dropped chances by Kohli at slip proved to be a blessing for the hosts. Axar Patel picked three wickets, but his economy was on the higher side due to the aggressive approach by the lower-order batters and Litton Das. With nearly 20 overs remaining in the day, this match is most likely heading to Day 4. Will the Indian batters take an aggressive approach, or will they play cautiously in the fourth innings. Litton Das scored 73 runs and Zakir Hasan scored 51 runs. For Team India, Axar Patel pick 3 wickets.

Team India scored 45/4 in their 2nd innings. They still need 100 runs with 6 wickets in hand. Mehidy Hasan Miraz pick 3 important wickets for his team.

BAN: 227 & 231
IND: 314 & 45/4 on Day 3 stumps

Day 4
Team India scored 145/7 and won the test by 3 wickets and whitewashed Bangladesh. Ashwin punches the air in delight, Iyer is elated too and so are their teammates in the dressing room. It was a canter at the end but let that not fool you – this was a proper thriller of a game. Bangladesh will wonder how they let this slip, having had India tottering at 74/7 not so long ago. At that point, the target of 145 looked a long, long way ago. It required the cricketing smarts and temperament of the Ashwin-Iyer partnership to bail the visitors out. The duo showed everyone exactly how to play on a turning surface, negating the challenge with a fine mix of caution and aggression. The intent clearly surprised Bangladesh who couldn’t find an answer to the duo’s counterpunch. They did have a chance early though, when Mominul put down Ashwin at short leg. In all fairness though, 145 was never going to be a threatening score but Mehidy and co almost pulled it off for the hosts. India may have won this game but there are serious concerns to ponder about, notably the form of their senior men. Some of the batting against spin has been unbelievably bad, more so when you factor in that these are sub-continental players those who are supposed to be good against spin. Ravichandran Ashwin scored unbeaten 42* runs and Axar Patel scored valuable 34 runs. For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz pick 5 wickets for his team.

BAN: 227 & 231
IND: 314 & 145/7
