Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in cinemas on its release date because it touted as most violent Indian movies, and I am big of action films.
When army commando Amrit finds out his girlfriend Tulika is engaged against her will, he boards a New Delhi-bound train in a daring quest to derail the arranged marriage. But when a gang of knife-wielding thieves led by the ruthless Fani begins to terrorize innocent passengers on the train, Amrit takes on the thieves in a death-defying spree to save those around him and turning what should have been a typical commute into an adrenaline-fueled thrill ride.
Kill story is very straightforward and simple. It is a masterfully shot action-drama which warrants a watch for all the bloody and gory action portions shot in the moving train alone. There are no grand explanations or backstories, and the film does not waste any time to get to its core portions The sound design of the film deserves a special mention as it plays a major role in making the audience feel the film intensely, instead of just watching it. Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s direction is praiseworthy. The best part of his storytelling is that he has kept the thread of the underlying emotions behind the violence intact throughout the drama. Lakshya makes a promising debut, confident in his skin. He looks handsome, acts very well and absolutely shines in action scenes. Raghav Juyal is outstanding as Fani. His performance deserves the highest praise because of the ease with which he approaches every scene. The technicalities of the film are so strong we leave the theatre with the film beating, tossing and bouncing inside us. This is the mark of cinema achieving its goals to perfection. Kill is extremely gory, and it is clearly not everyone’s cup of tea. But for those people who like drinking this brand of tea, it might just be the best kind of tea they will get to drink for a long time. The action is well choreographed and not for the faint-hearted.
On the flipside, the storytelling focuses on brutal combat scenes alone for almost two hours, which are intense, even engaging but a tad tiring beyond a point. Raghav Juyal as the antagonist is not too convincing as the baddie. He doesn’t feel dreadful or someone to be afraid of. The film has taken a few obvious cinematic liberties, especially in the final showdown. Few supporting actors overdo their parts, and it dilutes the impact of the film slightly. The plot may occasionally feel clichéd as Amrit continually faces challenges, stumbles, and ultimately overcomes them. A few aspects are not clear like who is where on the train. It creates confusion as well and the makers should have taken care of it.
Overall, movie is a memorable, audacious ode to action cinema. It is a film certainly to be watched by action movie fanatics while those who don’t like bloody and gory action can conveniently stay away from it. Kill as a film could work even better with a denser plot and a more dreadful antagonist. My view on this movie Highly Recommended.
