Ishq Vishk Rebound Review: Fresh take on modern relationship of new generation
Ishq Vishk Rebound Movie Rating: 3 Stars
Watched Ishq Vishk Rebound movie in Cinema. Let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.
Cast: Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan and Naila Grrewal
Director: Nipun Dharmadhikari
Release Date: 21st June 2024 in cinema
Story: Movie starts with Raghav (Rohit Saraf) getting scolded by his boss (Kusha Kapila) for not bringing out a good story for the upcoming film titled Ishq Vishk 2.0. He then takes the film into a flashback when he was in Dehradun enjoying life with his friends Sahir (Jibraan Khan) and Sanya (Pashmina Roshan).
Sanya and Sahir’s on-again, off-again relationship constantly drags Raghav into the drama. Meanwhile Raghav starts seeing his collegemate Riya (Naila Grrewal) and falls for her. She, too, develops feelings for him and both get into a relationship.
Things take a turn when Sanya and Sahir break up, which somehow strains Raghav’s relationship with Riya. Sanya finds comfort in Raghav and while nursing her broken heart they fall in love with each other. This complicated dynamic sets the course of the relationship for all four. But will this ‘ishq vishk’ fling mess up their lifelong friendship?

4. Music

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on in my free time as trailer looks good and loved the original Shahid Kapoor starrer Ishq Vishk.
The line between friendship and love blurs for three best friends as they become entangled in a web of a breakup, a rebound relationship, and self-discovery.
Ishq Vishk Rebound explores the dynamics of modern dating and addresses social media impact and peer pressure on the young generation. The film also talks about career ambition, family pressure, and parental relationships. The movie offers a fresh story talking about a young love tale which is confusing hoping to see a ray of light in denial. It addresses new-generation slang situationship where a person cannot decide whom he loves and wants to be in a relationship with one while likes another as well. That’s what exactly happens with Rohit Saraf’s character. Youth and GenZ will connect with the film and will love it. The movie is heartfelt and genuine without coming across as preachy. This rom com is suitable for a selected audience and not to cater to people across all age groups. The film is likely to work with young people now dubbed as GenZ. It is funny and entertaining with good performances. The film applauds the GenZ love, moving over the 90s old school fondness. Whenever Raghav talks to himself in the film, you enjoy and smile. The film, despite a few clichés, feels fresh to watch. The dynamic that the friends and the couples share is explored maturely. The subtracts that focus on the parents of Raghav, Sanya and Sahir, give the story a lot of juice. Songs are obviously very nice, and they are picturized beautifully. As a viewer, the film truly makes me want to visit Dehradun. Rohit Saraf steals the show with his impeccable comedic timing and effortless delivery.
On the flipside, the horror-getaway portions don’t complement the screenplay and the movie could do much better without it. Songs are good to listen to but in a film as short as 1 hour and 50 minutes, they act as major speed-breakers. It’s because of the songs and few stretched portions that even a film as short as Ishq Vishk Rebound, at times feels long. The film’s pace slows down in the second half as the group’s complicated relationships become repetitive. The initial premise of Raghav attempting to mirror his story in his film’s script does not land. Some plot points, like Riya’s lingering jealousy towards the trio’s bond, aren’t fully fleshed out. Scenes like Raghav sending a text message from his cell phone to Riya after their break-up, Riya not bothering to reply, etc. look contrived. Even the resolution in the end is far less appealing than what it should’ve been because it looks very convenient. Finally, the climax doesn’t leave one wowed.
Overall, it starts off as being a frothy romantic comedy but then loses its fizz midway. While older viewers might not fully connect with its portrayal of modern love, the humor, engaging performances and entertainment value make it a decent one-time watch. My view on this movie Recommended if you have a yen for rom coms.
