2nd T20I (India Vs Australia)
Game Date: 26th November 2023
Details:
Australian skipper Matthew Wade won the toss and elected to field first in the 2nd game of T20I series against Team India at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. No change in Indian Team.

Team India scored huge 235/4 in their 20 overs after batting first. It was supposed to be a slowish surface, but the way Jaiswal started made everyone feel the pitch report today was just a farce. Jaiswal punished the bad balls and showed some deft touches as well, as India notched up 77 runs in the powerplay. Once he fell, Ishan Kishan picked up the baton and attacked the newbie Tanveer Sangha, just like the previous game. A quickfire fifty for the keeper batter, before he holed out to sweeper cover. SKY entertained with a few of his trademark shots, before Rinku added the finishing touches with his unabashed hitting. All along, Ruturaj held the other end up, playing the perfect anchor. For Australia, a day to forget for Maxwell and Abbott who had economy rates north of 18 today. Ellis was the pick with 3/45, but most of the bowlers were given a beating today. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 58 runs of 43 balls and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 53 runs of 25 balls. For Australia, Nathan Ellis picked 3 wickets for 45 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Australia unable to chase the target and scored 191/9 in their 20 overs. The conditions in the second half weren’t great for bowling as there was decent amount of dew. But Australian batters weren’t smart enough. They lost 4 wickets in the first 8 overs and that didn’t help the chase. David and Stoinis then started the fireworks. They accumulated 31 off 5 consecutives balls at one stage but their wickets opened the floodgates. Krishna nailed the yorker and so did Arshdeep. But it was the spin duo of Axar and Bishnoi who set it up for the Indians. Bishnoi picked three wickets. And Axar despite picking one wicket was the most economical bowler of the game. That meant the pacers despite going for a few runs had some cushion to play with. In the end, Wade tried to wield his willow and got himself 42 runs but that reduced the margin of defeat. India have a healthy lead now. And how vital was the cameo from Rinku Singh? His 31 off 9 balls seemed to have given the cushion to the Indian bowlers when the dew came in. The top three Indian batters got fifties but failed to go beyond 58. But the runs continued to flow as everyone came in to bat with positive intent. Marcus Stoinis scored 45 of 25 balls and skipper Matthew Wade scored 42* runs of 23 balls. For Team India, Prasidh Krishna & Ravi Bishnoi picked 3 wickets each.
