South Africa bowled out for 270 runs in 47.5 after batting first. That was a disappointing batting effort from South Africa. For the first time in the series, they were asked to bat first and they’ve been knocked over inside 50 overs. Rickelton departed in the opening over, but Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma absorbed the early pressure, added 100+ for the 2nd wicket and laid a solid platform for the middle order. de Kock continued even after Bavuma fell, bringing up his 7th ODI ton against India, an outstanding individual effort. But the innings pivoted sharply thereafter. Prasidh Krishna, who had been taken for 27 in his first 2 overs, returned brilliantly grabbing 3 for 25 in his next 5 overs – crucial scalps of Breetzke, Markram, and de Kock. From there, it became the Kuldeep Yadav show. The wrist-spinner toyed with the lower middle order and finished with impressive figures of 4 for 41. South Africa end on 270, a total that feels below par given the surface. The one positive for them – the dew doesn’t seem anywhere near as heavy as it was in Ranchi or Raipur. They’ll hope that keeps them in the contest. Quinton de Kock scored 106 runs of 89 balls and skipper Temba Bavuma scored 48 runs of 67 balls. For Team India, Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav picked 4 wickets each.

Team India chased the target in 39.5 overs by scoring 271/1 and won the match by 9 wickets and series by 2-1. After two close games, India finally won a toss after ages and the ball came on to the bat much better in the 2nd innings. Both Jaiswal and Rohit took their time and were content to respect the bowlers early on. Once that phase was seen, they put the foot down. Rohit with his trademark pulls and he looked good for a 100 as a flurry of boundaries came. But Maharaj got him, then Kohli came out and along with Jaiswal they got the job done. Jaiswal after reaching his 50 looked to go into T20 mode and deservedly got his maiden 100. Who knows if Kohli too could have done the same, had the target been higher. South Africa was ineffective with the ball as boundaries came too often. A clinical chase sees India win the series-decider. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 116* runs of 121 balls and Rohit Sharma scored 75 runs of 73 balls. For Team South Africa, Keshav Maharaj picked the only fallen wicket.
