India won ODI series against Australia-cricketmovie.com

IDFC First Bank ODI Series 2023: Team India seal the series after their emphatic win against Australia in the 2nd ODI. They won the game by 99 runs at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

2nd ODI (India Vs Australia)
Game Date: 24th September 2023
Details:
Australia stand-in captain Steven Smith won the toss and elected to field first in the 2nd game of ODI series against Team India at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. One change in India playing XI and Prasidh Krishna is playing today in the place of Jasprit Bumrah.

Team India scored huge 399/5 in 50 overs after batting first. That’s a tremendous total posted by India as it is their highest ODI total against Australia, and they have managed to achieve it without their mainstays – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Gaikwad got India off to a quick start as the opener scored a couple of boundaries in the first over and set the tone. However, Hazlewood got him caught behind soonafter as the Men in Blue were reduced to 16/1 in the 4th over. Iyer walked in next and he attacked the bowlers right from the word go and looked really positive since the beginning. Along with Gill, Iyer had a fantastic partnership for the second wicket as the pair was severely punitive against the inexperienced Australian bowlers. There was a rain interruption as well, however, that didn’t break Gill’s and Iyer’s concentration. The two top-order batters regained their focus soon after resumption, and kept punishing the opposition bowlers, dealing in boundaries at regular intervals. In the process, both of them also notched up their centuries as they laid the foundation before they departed. KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan kept up with the momentum and made sure there wasn’t a dip in the run rate. Once Kishan was dismissed, it was time for Suryakumar to come out and entertain the crowd, and he didn’t disappoint the spectators even for a moment, believe me. Against Cameron Green, he smashed four sixes in a row and put the Aussies under further pressure. And although KL Rahul got out after notching up his fifty, SKY made sure to strike regular boundaries as he took India closer to the 400-run mark with his fantastic knock of 72*(37). Australia have been at the receiving end of such high targets over the last couple of weeks, and they have another challenging chase to deal with. Will they be able to get anywhere close? Shreyas Iyer scored 105 runs of 90 balls and Shubman Gill scored 104 runs of 97 balls. For Australia, Cameron Green picked 2 wickets for 103 runs in his 10 overs quota.

Australia unable to chase the target and bowled out for 217 runs in 28.2 and lost the game by 99 runs as per DLS method. That’s an emphatic win for India as they clinch the 3-match series 2-0, of course with a game remaining.. After setting a mammoth target of 400, India were clearly the favourites to win the match, and they have won the game by a massive margin eventually. The centuries by Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill, while the fifties by Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul powered India to their highest total in ODIs against Australia and the Indian bowlers made sure to further choke the Aussies in the second essay. The Aussies lost a couple of early wickets in the form of Short and Smith, hence the run chase got further difficult as a result of that. The second rain break made things even worse for the visitors as the target was revised to 317 in 33 overs. With the scoreboard pressure mounting, Ravichandran got into the attack and picked three wickets to make the run chase improbable for the visiting team. There were a few Australian batters who looked promising, but it were the Men in Blue who clicked all the boxes right right. With rain or without it, there was only one team that dominated proceedings in this Indore encounter and they rightly ended up on the winning side. Three wickets for Ashwin, three wickets for Jadeja, a lovely night for the Indian spinners. Sean Abbott scored 54 of 36 balls and David Warner scored 53 runs of 39 balls. For Team India, Ashwin & Jadeja picked 3 wickets each.

AUS: 399/5 in 50 overs
AUS: 217 all out in 28.2 overs (Target 317 in 33 over as per DLS Method)

Match Result: India won by 99 runs
Man of the Match: Shreyas Iyer
