India beat Australia in 1st ODI-cricketmovie.com

IDFC First Bank ODI Series 2023: Team India become no 1 side after beating Australia in the 1st ODI. They won the game by 5 wickets at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

1st ODI (India Vs Pakistan)
Game Date: 22nd September 2023
Details:
Team India stand-in captain KL Rahul won the toss and elected to field first in the 1st game of ODI series against Australia at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.

Australia bowled out for 276 runs in 50 overs after batting first. They lost Mitch Marsh in the very first over, but then David Warner and Steve Smith stitched together a partnership. The southpaw was helped by a Shreyas Iyer drop catch and notched up a fifty. He tried to attack the spinners but holed out to long-on. Smith too got a start but a nip-backer from Shami was too good for him. Labuschagne was unlucky to be out stumped off a delivery that deflected off Rahul’s pads onto the stumps. Everyone in the Aussie top-order got starts but couldn’t build on it as India kept fighting back. Josh Inglis impressed with 45 but fell to a superb Bumrah slower ball. Then Shami returned to claim three wickets at the death to end with a fifer. This isn’t a classic Mohali pitch; it is a bit two-paced. David Warner scored 52 runs of 53 balls and Josh Inglis scored 45 runs of 45 balls. For Team India, Mohammed Shami picked 5 wickets for 51 runs in his 10 overs quota.

Team India chased down the target by scoring 281/5 in 48.4 and lost the game by 5 wickets. The Mohali curse has been broken, India’s first win over Australia at this venue since 1996. A fairly routine chase, as batting did get better in the second innings with the pitch flattening out. Shubman Gill was princely as ever, making the most of the powerplay with some eye catching strokeplay. He was fully supported by Ruturaj who took his time to get started, but motored along nicely. Both openers notched up fifties, but then Adam Zampa produced wickets off three successive overs, as he dismissed Gill and Rutu, while Iyer was run out. Things then were a bit nervy as Ishan Kishan was out trying to upper cut, but Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul steadied the ship. The former in particular showed great restraint, curbing his attacking instincts and playing some textbook shots to get India close to the finish line. He couldn’t close out the job, but Rahul was assured at the other end as he played a captain’s knock, notched up a fifty and scored the winning runs with 8 balls to spare. Shubman Gill scored 74 of 71 balls and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 71 runs of 77 balls. For Australia, Adam Zampa picked 2 wickets for 57 runs in his 10 overs quota.
