India beat Australia in World Cup 2023-cricketmovie.com

ICC World Cup 2023: Team India handed Australia their first loss at Chennai after an early wobble in chase. They won the game by 6 wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

1st Game (India Vs Australia)
Game Date: 8th October 2023
Details:
Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first in the 1st game of ODI World Cup 2023 against Team India at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. One forced change in Indian Team and Ishan Kishan is playing today in the place of Shubman Gill who is suffering from fever.

Australia bowled out for 199 runs in 49.3 overs after batting first. On a pitch which is not anywhere close to being easy, India with their spinners and the fielding have bowled out Australia for 199. The visitors lost Mitch Marsh early but Warner and Smith during that partnership handled things sensibly and the latter was especially looking ominous. But Warner’s wicket brought the much-needed breakthrough for India and then the spinners took over. Jadeja bowled a beauty to get Smith and the wheels came off for Australia after that. From 110/2, they slipped to 140/7. Things were looking bleak for them at that stage with over 13 overs still left, but the lower order hung out to push the score to 199. Starc with a useful 28 and those runs might still prove crucial. But a word or two on India’s fielding – right from the time Kohli took a fabulous catch at slip, the intent and energy were set, and India’s ground fielding was superb. They made things difficult for the Aussies and allowed the spinners to build pressure. 200 is not a great total but at least Australia has something to bowl at. Remember they are yet to lose a #CWC match here at Chennai. So, a record to be taken care of them. India favorites though. Steven Smith scored 46 runs of 71 balls and David Warner scored 41 runs of 52 balls. For Team India, Ravindra Jadeja picked 3 wickets for 28 runs in his 10 overs quota.

Team India chased down the target by scoring 201/4 runs in 41.2 and won the game by 6 wickets. That was a stroll in the park then, at least that’s what the scorecard would suggest. But India, especially Kohli and Rahul, would say it was far from a stroll. They were in a dire strait when Iyer holed out at the end of the second over. Kishan, Rohit and Iyer all gone for a duck, Australia right on top and the score reading 2/3. That’s when Kohli and Rahul came together, showed their experience and soaked in the pressure. Kohli was given a reprieve when Marsh dropped him on 12 off Hazlewood, but apart from that the partnership was flawless. They saw off the early burst from the pacers, knocked Maxwell around and then took it from there. Both kept the scoreboard ticking, got to their respective fifties and recorded the highest partnership for India against Australia in World Cups. They should have finished it off but Kohli perished while trying to take on Australia’s best bowler Hazlewood. Rahul was there till the end and he scored the winning runs. KL Rahul scored 97* of 115 balls and Virat Kohli scored 85 runs of 116 balls. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood picked 3 wickets for 38 runs in his 9 overs

AUS: 199 runs all out in 49.3 overs
IND: 201/4 in 41.2 overs

Match Result: India won by 6 wickets
Man of the Match: KL Rahul
