I Love You Review: Fast paced screenplay and impactful performances make it worth your time despite weak script
I Love You Movie Rating: 2.5 Stars

Just watched I Love You movie on Jio Cinema. Let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Cast: Rakul Preet, Pavail Gulati and Akshay Oberoi
Director: Nikhil Mahajan
Release Date: 16th June 2023 on Jio Cinema

Story: Movie revolves around Satya (Rakul Preet Singh) who is an independent and strong corporate woman who has recently been proposed to by her boyfriend and colleague Vishal (Akshay Oberoi). Her best friend is Rakesh Oberoi (Pavail Gulati) whom she trusts blindly and he’s always there to help her in whichever way possible.

One day before Diwali, satya is planning to go to her hometown Delhi on a late-night flight to celebrate the festival with her family but as the departure time near, Satya is unable to contact Vishal or her driver, who was scheduled to drive her to the airport. As she attempts to exit the office building on her own, she realizes that she is locked within its walls, with no one else around.

Satya out of alternatives and in a panic, calls her close friend and colleague Rishabh who works in the same office’s technical department. When RO arrives to help her, their situation takes a nasty turn when they uncover a dead body—and several more as the night progresses. Satya’s life is irreversibly altered as she battles to survive this tragic night that has the potential to change everything. Who is behind these crimes and what happen next is all about this film.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in my free time as trailer looks good in parts.

A corporate woman Satya Prabhakar and her fiancé, Vishal, are set to embark on a new chapter in their lives. But fate had other plans, and Satya found herself alone and trapped within the confines of her workplace. The danger that awaits her is what keeps viewers engaged in what is going on with her.

I Love You story is predictable but fast screenplay keep you hooked but unimaginative later on. It feels like a modern take on the narratives of Darr and Ek Haseena Thi and we are not complaining. There is nothing wrong with a film being predictable and tries to be the evidential proof of that statement. You do not second guess the twists and turns but, enjoy it instead. There is a feeling from the beginning where you know how this story will end but, with the correct pacing and incredible performances, you can really sit through it, biting your nails. Performances are major highlight of this film which made this a good one-time watch.

On the flipside, after a point, nothing much happens in the film. It’s just 93 minutes long and yet, feels quite lengthy as it starts to drag. Satya pretending to be attracted to RO and then telling him the truth followed by again pretending to be besotted by him is very unconvincing. Agreed that RO was mentally sick, but he was smart enough to see through it. What is also difficult to digest is Satya taking so much time to escape from the office, especially after getting free of RO’s clutches. She could have used the gym equipment or other heavy stuff to break the glass door at the entrance. Instead, she dives into the swimming pool, which was forcefully added and had no relevance. As a result, one doesn’t feel high when she finally manages to escape.

Overall, movie rests on strong performances and direction but suffers due to a weak script and too many loose ends. It serves a story that is easily predictable from the outset. But its fast-paced screenplay and impactful performances make it worth your time. My view on this movie Recommended.
