Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele Review: A beautiful LGBTQ story of two friends and their journey to self-acceptance with anti-climax
Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele Movie Rating: 3 Stars

Finally watched Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele movie on Disney Plus Hotstar VIP. So let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Cast: Anshuman Jha, Zareen Khan, Gurfateh Pirzada, Jahnvi Rawat & Denzil Smith
Director: Harish Vyas
Release Date: 9th May 2021 on Disney Plus Hotstar VIP

Story: Film was officially selected as a centerpiece film at Indian Film Festival Melbourne 2020. It revolves around Mansi (Zareen Khan) is from Meerut and run away from home due to the possibility of an arranged marriage to meet her long term girl-friend Nikki (Jahnvi Rawat) who lives in Delhi.

On the other hand Veer (Anshuman Jha) is from Punjab who also run away from home due to his fiancée-to-be because he does not want to marry and was ready due to family pressure. He moved to Delhi to meet his long term boy-friend Akshay (Gurfateh Pirzada) who is already married to Mitali (Prabhleen Kaur).

Mansi get to know that Nikki has gone to her hometown in McLeod Ganj. Meanwhile on the same night Veer and Mansi meet at a LGBTQ party thrown by Akshay. Mansi observes that Akshay is ignoring Veer and a conversation begins with a friendship and later develops into a sense of belonging, compassion, love which is beyond sexual preference and gender and later she’s taking shelter in Veer’s apartment.

Mansi and Veer are polar opposites she’s messy and spontaneous as he has OCD about cleanliness and, as a result of a strict upbringing by his army officer father, he’s also chivalrous and follows the rules. Next day Mansi planned to leave for McLeod Ganj to surprise Nikki and meet her. After facing a heartbreak, Veer decides to drive Mansi to McLeod Ganj to unite her with her lover Nikki. On the way the two bond, spend time and realize they have a deep connection between them. So naturally Mansi and Veer’s adventure are set against some pretty vistas, also brings them to realizations and revelations.

When Nikki too refuses to accept her relationship in front of her family the soul mates decide to settle in together. After a few months of staying as a couple, Mansi realizes she misses the love of her life, while Veer has already developed a soft corner for her and is insecure about losing his partner. But later Veer talk to Nikki whose father (Denzil Smith) planned to send her abroad and reunite her with Mansi. What happen next and to know you need to watch the film.

Positives
1. Excellent performances
2. Story
3. Direction
4. Cinematography

Negatives
1. Screenplay
2. Music
3. Climax

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : > When I watched the trailer planned to watch this movie because trailer looks amazing with beautiful concept.

Two friends set out on an adventure of a lifetime, and discover something beautiful that bonds them. Mansi and Veer rejecting conventional rigid parents and stereotypical expectations and running towards their respective true loves. But complicated is an understatement when it comes to each one’s relationship status.

The climax is a suicide that kills all the beauty of what could have been one of the most beautiful LGBTQ love stories or say a love story in general. A gay Veer and a lesbian Mansi living together like soul mates. Apart from climax for some movie could be boring due to slow screenplay. For me this is one of the best film on LGBTQ. My View on this movie Recommended!!
