Hawkeye Review: Marvel presents Clint Barton story in simple yet very effective way
Hawkeye Web Series Rating: 3 Stars

Just watched Hawkeye web series on Disney Plus Hotstar. So let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.

Cast: Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, Fra Fee, Alaqua Cox and Florence Pugh
Director: Jonathan Igla
Release Date: 22nd December 2021 (Disney Plus Hotstar)
Duration: 6 Episodes/ 40 Minutes

Story: Taking off from a young Kate Bishop watching Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) take on the aliens during an attack that took place in New York, the show soon showcases how Bishop stuck to her dream of becoming a protector for her family in a similar way as that of Hawkeye and took up archery as her means to do it. Calling herself one of the world’s greatest archers, Kate’s (Hailee Steinfeld) first meeting with Clint happens after a rather dangerous incident that results in her wearing Ronin’s costume while fighting off members of the tracksuit mafia in New York.

Barton allowed himself to be captured by Tracksuit mafia without informing Kate. They informed their deaf commander Maya (Alaqua Cox) and his lieutenant Kazi (Fra Fee). Kate track him through his phone and reached to location where Barton is kidnapped but ends up being captured herself. Maya interrogates Barton and Bishop about Ronin who killed her father years prior. Barton manages to free himself and Kate from the Tracksuit Mafia.

Barton dons the Ronin suit and confronts Lopez at the auto shop where he killed her father. During the fight, he unmasks himself and attempts to convince her to let go of her vendetta and leave his family alone. He reveals that an informant working for Lopez’s boss wanted her father dead, but Lopez initially disbelieves him. Bishop arrives to help Barton escape, while Lopez becomes suspicious of Kazi, who was absent on the night of her father’s death.

Natasha sister Yelena (Florence Pugh) is also behind the Barton and informed Kate that she was hired by her mom Eleanor (Vera Farmiga) to kill Barton and that Eleanor is working with Maya uncle Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) who is the main criminal and behind all the crimes. How Clint and Kate fight against Kingpin and Yelena is all about this series.

Positives
1. Excellent Performances
2. Screenplay
3. Story
4. Direction

Negatives
1. Music
2. Length
3. Climax

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I have watched the trailer of this series planned to watch in my free time because I have already watched the all Avengers movie and this is first individual series for Hawkeye so excited to see his story.

Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas with the help of Kate Bishop who is a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.

The idea of a Christmas themed Marvel show may have sounded absurd at the start but by the end of the show, you will realise it’s rather fitting. Apart from the fact that it’s set during Christmas time in New York, there are several other elements that mark the celebration of holiday spirit on the show. The action in the show finds a strange balance between looking deadly but at the same time immensely enjoyable with Kate’s hilarious commentary mid-fight.

With Hawkeye, there are a lot of interesting ideas that are explored including the inclusion of the Avengers musical which features at the end of the finale. Yes, Hawkeye ditches Marvel’s usual tradition of adding a post-credits scene to the show but instead gives a musical. Under Thomas’ direction Hawkeye’s character gets a fresh take and compared to all the other Marvel shows this year, it brings us a comparatively light entertainment interlaced with emotional scenes. To conclude the year on a positive note, Hawkeye seems Marvel’s perfect Christmas gift with a finale that will put a smile on your face. My View on this web-series Recommended.
