Freedom Test Series 2021: Team India become first Asian team to won a test match at Centurion against South Africa. They have won the first test by 113 runs and take a lead of 1-0 with 2 more test to go. Now I am going to share day-to-day activity of this test match with all the details, records and milestones in my way.

Day 1.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first in the 1st test against South Africa at SuperSport Park, Centurion. Ajinkya Rahane is included in the playing XI while Shreyas Iyer and Hanuma Vihari is not playing.

Team India scored 272/3 at the end of Day 1. Vice-captain KL Rahul is batting on 122* runs and become only 2nd batsmen to score a century at South Africa. Lungi Ngidi pick all 3 wickets.

– Since South Africa’s re-admission, this is only the second instance of a visiting opening pair putting together 50+ batting first in the opening match of a series in South Africa is the previous instance being 98 by Chris Gayle & Daren Ganga in Port Elizabeth in 2007/08.

– This is the seventh instance in 2021 of Indian openers surviving 20+ overs in a Test outside Asia. In the ten previous years (2011-20) there was not a single such instance.

Day 2.
2nd day called off due to rain and wet outfield.

Day 3.
Team India bowled out for 327 in their first innings. KL Rahul scored 123 runs and Mayank Agarwal scored 60 runs. For South Africa Lungi Ngidi pick 6 wickets.

South Africa bowled out for 197 in their first innings and Team India take the lead of 130 runs in the first innings. Temaba Bavuma scored 52 runs and Quinton de Kock scored 34 runs. For India Mohammed Shami pick 5 wickets.

Team India scored 16/1 in their 2nd innings and now they have leas of 146 runs with 9 wickets in hands. Debutant Marco Jansen picks the wicket of Mayank Agarwal.

18 wickets in the day’s play is the most in a day in a Test in Centurion. The previous most being 16 on the third day of the Test between SA & NZ in 2007/08.

Day 4.
Team India bowled out for 174 runs in their 2nd innings and set the target of 305 for South Africa to win this test match. Rishabh Pantscored 34 runs and KL Rahul scored 23 runs. For South Africa Jensen and Rabada pick 4 wickets each.

South Africa scored 94/4 in their 2nd innings and still they need 211 runs with 6 wickets in hand. Their skipper Dean Elgar is at the crease on 52* while Jasprit Bumrah pick 2 wickets for Team India.
