Flames Season 3 Review: This new season of teenage romance drama is tedious watch as it has nothing new to offer
Flames Season 3 Web Series Rating: 2.5 stars

Just watched Flames Season 3 Web Series on Amazon Prime Video. So, let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.

Cast: Ritvik Sahore, Tanya Maniktala, Sunakshi Grover, Shivam Kakar and Deepesh Sumitra Jagdish
Director: Divyanshu Malhotra
Release Date: 28th October 2022 on Prime Video
Duration: 5 Episodes/ 30 Minutes

Story: Seasons 1 and 2 were more focused on adolescent romance and the character development of the protagonists. Season 3 of Flames is more realistic and focused on the maturing of the characters and their struggle to achieve the perfect balance between their relationship and professional aspirations. The new season follows Rajat (Ritvik Sahore) and Ishita (Tanya Maniktala) as their love develops and faces new hurdles.

New season continues directly after the events of the second season finale. Ishita is back after the trauma and Rajat is looking forward to taking their relationship to a stronger level. However, Ishita has some other goals, i.e., the 12th board exams, which puts Ritvik in a sort of depression. He has to tackle his father over his professional desires, and that makes him more frustrated. Will their equations change again? Will love triumph and lead to a happy ending?

On the other hand, Anusha (Sunakshi Grover) wants to buy a scooter and her boyfriend Gaurav (Shivam Kakar) has a problem. Unlike Rajat and Ishita, Gaurav and Anusha are a fun couple, with no melodrama and depressive thoughts attached. Their relationship gets even better in this season and that’s one of the highlights of this season.

They all attend tuition classes by Kaushal sir (Deepesh Sumitra Jagdish) at the Sunshine Institute who has their own problems because another teacher Abhijat (Sahil Verma) set to leave the institute in next 15 days.

Positives
1. Excellent Performance
2. Music
3. Climax

Negatives
1. Story
2. Direction
3. Screenplay
4. Overstretched

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this web-series it looks interesting and planned to watch in my free time despite not watched the two previous seasons just because it’s by TVF.

The gang in class 12th. Rajat and Ishita are now friends. While Rajat is desperately trying to win her back, Ishita wants to take it slow. Sunshine Tuition Center resumes at Kaushal Sir’s residence terrace. And with a new beginning, comes a new set of problems for him.

I have not watched the previous two seasons of Flames but it’s a tedious watch. In five episodes, you get bored of watching Rajat and Ishita‘s regular talk, flirts, fights, and patch-ups. It is outdated and damn irritating. It may have been appropriate for their ages, but the clever writing and humor were definitely lacking. Interestingly, Gaurav and Anusha‘s love story looks so sensible and time-tested. The comedy factor is there too, but it is more about being lighthearted and not depressive and cold. The screenplay is quite engaging considering the amount of writing it has got and the cinematography is fine too.

On the positive side the last two episodes, in particular, are emotionally charged, focusing on the parent-child relationship. This concept of parents pressuring their children to pursue careers in engineering or medicine and children “quitting” is not new; it has been depicted in a number of films and web series, like 3 Idiots, Kota Factory and others. The situations are explained using chemistry metaphors. The close-up shots of Delhi Street food will undoubtedly whet your appetite. And those Maggi moments, as well as the prep talks, are drenched in nostalgia, bringing back memories of being a teen. Overall, there is nothing new offer by TVF in this series. My view on this web-series is Recommended only if you are fan of this series.
