Etharkkum Thunindhavan Review: Good action entertainer with strong social message

Just watched Etharkkum Thunindhavan movie in Hindi on Netflix. So let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Story: Kannabiran (Suriya) is a lawyer at the Chennai High Court who lives with his family consisting of his father Aadhirayar (Sathyaraj) and mother Kosalai (Saranya Ponvannan) in Thennaadu. Their neighbouring village is Vadanaadu. Residents of both villages believe that god and goddess Shiva and Shakti originated in these villages and hold an grand festival celebrating their togetherness.
When a woman from Thenaadu, who is married to a man from Vadanaadu, commits suicide, both the villages engage in rivalry. From this, Kannabiran falls in love with Aadhini (Priyanka Arul Mohan) from Vadanaadu and the two of them get married. Aadhini’s friend Yazhnila is in love with Nithin (Sharan Sakti) who is Inba’s (Vinay Rai) henchman. He cheats her by asking her to sleep with a man. Somehow she manages to escaped from there and Kannabiran saved her from goons and gives shelter as well as motivates her by standing beside her in the fight against the pornography racket run by Inba
One day, Inba shoots the video of Aadhini bathing and shared with him. Soon, he gathers all the victims of Inba’s racket and files a petition against Inba and his men. However, Inba’s advocate shows false evidence, showing that he is a philanthropist and educationalist. As a result, the judge dismisses the case and orders the arrest of Kannabiran and his father Aadhirayar. How he fight against Inba and saves other women from pornography is all about this film.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on digital premiere because loved Suriya last few movies and this one also looking excellent.
Kannabiran is a lawyer by profession. He comes as a saviour for the women of his town when their private videos are shot by Inba and his gang. How Kannabiran brings the evil man to book forms the crux of the story.
Etharkkum Thunindhavan has extremely routine story which only has the point of private videos as the novelty factor. Otherwise, the subject about a noble person helping damsels in distress is clichéd. His screenplay relies heavily on the tried and tested elements and therefore becomes predictable. Dialogues are good but only at a few places.
Direction is good and he always finds his groove in churning out mass entertainers that have their knees deep in familial emotions and societal values. The film is very basic in its approach, and does not try to opt for new modes of narratives, unfamiliar behavior from the actors or anything out of the box. Yet, what it gets right is in its ideology to present the core topic of women safety with a clean and green attitude towards it. Overall, it is a fine mass entertainer that comes with a strong social message that entertains and educates. My view on this movie Recommended.
