36th Game (Kings XI Punjab Vs Mumbai Indians)
Game Date: 18th Oct 2020
Details:
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first in the 36th game of IPL 2020. MI included Quinton De Kock, Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult and Nathan Coulter-Nile as four foreign players for this game. No change in playing XI.

Four foreign players of KXIP for this game was Chris Gayle, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Jordan and Nicholas Pooran. No change in playing XI.

Mumbai Indians did start off poorly and loose 3 wickets in the power play. Krunal and the in-form QdK weathered the storm with a half-ton partnership. The South African wicketkeeper notched up his fourth fifty in five matches and his partnership with the senior Pandya laid the platform for the lower order to go berserk. And, that’s exactly what the defending champions did. The 16th and 17th over went for only 3 and 5 runs respectively. Post that, it was carnage. Pollard smacked four sixes and was ably supported by NCN who didn’t shy away from playing his shots and they scored 54 runs off the last three overs. Quinton De Cock scored 53 of 43 balls and Kieron Pollard scored 34* of 12 balls. For KXIP Shami and Arshdeep Singh picks 2 wickets each

Kings XI Punjab started well despite losing the wicket of Mayank early and good steady partnership between Gayle and Rahul given them chance but quick wickets specially of skipper who scored yet another brilliant half century but good fight by Hooda and Jordan and at last they needed 3 runs of 3 balls but only able to score 2 runs and game was tied. KL Rahul scored 77 runs 51 balls and Nicholas Pooran scored 24 in 12 balls. For MI Jasprit Bumrah picks 3 wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Super Over
From MI side Jasprit Bumrah bowled the super over and take both wickets of Rahul and Pooran by giving just 5 runs.

From KXIP side Mohammed Shami bowls the super over and restrict MI for only 5 runs with his brilliant Yorkers and super over also Tied.

MI: 176/6 in 20 overs
SRH: 176/6 in 20 overs

Result: Game and first super Tied
KXIP won the game in 2nd super over
Man of the Match: KL Rahul

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : First of all what an thrilling and captivating game it was. Congratulations to KXIP for their consecutive wins. Today they fought for 2 points and won the game in 2nd super over. They bowlers did exceptionally well but again given away plenty of runs in death overs. Mayank got out in power play but KL Rahul stands like a wall for team till 18th over. At the end they needed 3 runs but unable to make it after that superb bowling by Shami and Jordan in super overs and brilliant batting by Gayle and Mayank gives them much needed win. They need to play the same way in their next 5 games and need to win all in order to qualify in play-offs which is very tough but this team has potential and it will be interesting to see they perform in further games.

For MI Today top order fails to perform but again lower middle done the great work with in-form QDK. After that bowling was also good and it was great to see they tied the game when KXIP needed only 3 runs in 3 balls. Bumrah bowled outstanding super over and they need only 6 runs and that should chased down but it didn’t happen and in 2nd super over they need to defend 12 runs but Boult given away that runs in 4 balls. Being a fan of MI today I missed Lasith Malinga as he can bowl that over and result could have different but still they are in good position and need to carry the momentum to qualify in playoffs.
