Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch on premiere day as liked the trailer. When an attempted murder case unfolds in a sleepy hill town, investigating officer Vidya Jyoti suspects there’s more to the story than meets the eye. Can she decode fact from fiction?

Do Patti centered around a marriage on the rocks. The setup is pulpier, addressing a tale of domestic abuse, revolving around twin sisters involved with the same man. While the movie is all over the place, the effort to make a fast paced, saucy and engaging all quadrant film is visible and that’s what filmmakers must strive towards. There is the serious issue of domestic violence highlighted in the story and presented in a sensitive manner. The cinematography takes the story and drama to a special height. The film does have plenty of twists, though one can sense the denouement a mile off. Kriti Sanon’s acting is the biggest strength of the film. Her performance is powerful, and her name is heard in every scene. Kajol and Shaheer Sheikh acted well.

On the flipside, this could have worked wonders as a thriller but that’s not the case here. Movie is deceptive as a film, not as a mystery. You are led on and lured into believing that there’s more to this long-winding twin sister saga but it’s all a damp squib. For some strange reason, you pin your hopes on the big twist that might redeem the situation but that wish stays unfulfilled as it’s predictable and underwhelming. Twin sister tropes have existed in Bollywood from long time and makers try to resurrect this theme and give it a legal spin, but it all feels frothy and not meaningful. It is aimlessly written, with a lot of scenes having no significance to what the makers actually intend to say at the end of the film. The convenient story and the manufactured conflicts don’t serve the film any good. The film goes on to justify a wrong judgement by the court in the most unhinged manner.

Overall film is only good in parts but does not deliver what it promises. It is a tone-deaf film, and makers should have been more careful about what they are trying to justify and what message they are trying to put out. The aimlessness and inconsistency of the movie is another issue. It has an interesting subject in hand and is laced with fine performances but suffers due to weak direction and loose ends in the script. My view on this movie Not Recommended.
