Story: Set in 1996 in Madanapalle, Chittoor district, Educationalist Krishna Murthy (Sachin Khedekar) owns a coffee estate, which he leases to MLA Trimurthulu (Ravi Kishan). However, Trimurthulu uses the estate as a hub for smuggling animal organs and engaging in illegal activities. When Krishna Murthy decides to cancel the lease after discovering these activities, Trimurthulu threatens his family and tries to kill his granddaughter Vaishnavi (Veda Agarwal).

Hearing about the situation, Nanaji (Balakrishna) who is a fugitive from Chambal Valley, escapes from prison to protect Vaishnavi and becomes a driver for Krishna Murthy’s family. He shields Vaishnavi, Krishna Murthy, and their family from Trimurthulu and his gang.

The story then delves into a flashback set in Chambal Valley, where Seetharam (Balakrishna) and his wife Kaveri (Pragya Jaiswal) arrive as irrigation engineers. The region suffers from a severe water crisis, with villagers receiving drinking water only once a week. To survive, the villagers are forced to work under harsh conditions in a mining company owned by Balwant Thakur (Bobby Deol) and his brothers.

What prompts Seetharam to take up arms and become Daaku Maharaaj? How does he solve the water crisis and free the villagers from Balwant’s tyranny? What role does Nandini (Shraddha Srinath) play in this story? And what is the connection between Vaishnavi and Daaku Maharaaj? To uncover these answers and witness how the story concludes, you’ll need to experience the film on the big screen.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in Hindi in cinemas if released as loved the trailer and fan of south India action entertainer. A daring robber, striving for survival and establishing his own territory amid conflicts with powerful adversaries, battling to become a king without a kingdom.

Daaku Maharaaj narrative tackles age-old themes of justice and retribution, delivered with a fresh treatment and technical finesse. Kolli crafts a mass-commercial entertainer with a brisk pace, skillfully balancing high-octane action with emotional depth, though the story becomes slightly repetitive towards the end. While the screenplay relies on familiar tropes, it offers enough drama and high points to keep the audience, especially Balakrishna’s fans, engaged. The film’s technical excellence elevates the viewing experience. Thaman’s background score enhances the drama and action sequences, while Vijay Kartik Kannan’s cinematography captures the contrasting landscapes of lush green hills, arid Chambal regions, and snow-covered vistas with visual flair. The editing by Niranjan Devaramane ensures a cohesive flow, while the action choreography stands out as a highlight. The art direction and visual effects, considering the budget, are commendable and contribute to an immersive atmosphere. Nandamuri Balakrishna delivers a commanding performance as Sitaram/Daaku Maharaaj, convincingly embodying the duality of his character. Bobby Deol, making his Telugu debut as antagonist Balawanth Singh Thakur, brings a menacing presence to the screen. Pragya Jaiswal and Shraddha Srinath provide commendable support, each adding emotional layers to the narrative.

The storyline, though engaging, treads familiar ground, leading to predictability in key moments. The lack of depth in the antagonist’s characterization diminishes the potential for greater narrative complexity. Additionally, the pacing falters in the second half, with certain scenes feeling drawn out or repetitive. Some characters, like Shine Tom Chacko, Urvashi Rautela, and Chandini Chowdary, don’t add much value to the story. The screenplay works well in the first half but feels slow in the second half. The climax could have been stronger for a better impact. Overall, movie is a high-octane entertainer that thrives on commanding performance, stylish action sequences and impressive technical values. While it doesn’t reinvent storytelling, it offers an engaging cinematic experience and a treat for Balakrishna’s fans. Despite shortcomings it is entertaining and worth watching for its mix of action and emotion. Though a tighter script and stronger emotions could have broadened its appeal, it remains a satisfying watch. My view on this movie Recommended.
