Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga Review: Double jeopardy situation of a heist and a hijack makes this movie an exciting watch
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga Movie Rating: 3.5 Stars

Just watched Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga movie on Netflix India. Let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Cast: Yami Gautham, Sunny Kaushal, Sharad Kelkar and Indranil Sengutpa
Director: Ajay Singh
Release Date: 24th March 2023 on Netflix

Story: The film starts with Ankit (Sunny Kaushal) badly beaten and bruised, being investigated by a RAW officer named Shaikh (Sharad Kelkar) as to why terrorists only beat him during an hijacking incident. 8th month ago, bunch of hijackers getting ready for the mission and on the other hand Ankit and Neha (Yami Gautam) spark off a romance mid-air.

Ankit is a mysterious businessman strikes up a conversation with air-hostess Neha and leaves nothing to chance to woo her. Neha smitten by the charming and innocent-looking Ankit drops her guard and falls in love. But their happiness is short-lived because Ankit owes money to some shady people, who are after him, and now Neha as well. One day, the couple is attacked, and Neha gets into trouble.

To avoid future assaults and safeguard themselves, Neha and Ankit agree to rob a diamond courier, bound from Al Asad to Delhi. The diamonds are meant for the home minister and are worth Rs 120 crore. But mid-air, a simple robbery turns into a hijack when a bunch of radicals take everyone hostage at gunpoint and demand the release of a militant, shouting Kashmiri freedom slogans and diverting the flight from Delhi to Kullu.

Ankit is hell-bent on stealing the diamonds and eventually does so with Neha’s help, but the terrorists figure out their plan, beat up Ankit and tie a bomb around him. During the tussle between Ankit and the terrorists, the air marshal Sudhanshu (Indranil Sengutpa) shoots down the terrorists before the plane can land.

The army discovers that the bodies of the terrorists are missing and so is the air marshal who shot the terrorists. There was no hijack and no bomb, and the diamonds are missing too. Now, what happened to the diamonds, who planned the hijack, what happened to the hijackers’ bodies, and who is the ultimate con artist taking revenge on everyone? To find out, one needs to watch the film.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on premiere day because trailer looks very interesting and engaging.

A flight attendant and her boyfriend hatch a plan to steal a stash of diamonds on the flight in order to pay off an outstanding debt. However, while soaring 40,000 feet in the air, their scheme takes a disastrous turn, as the flight is hijacked by a terrorist group, resulting in a hostage crisis.

Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga story is engaging even though they may not be as convincing as one would’ve liked them to be. The hijacking part is not as serious and convincing as it should’ve been to inspire people’s confidence in it and to give you edge-of-the-seat thrill. However, the saving grace is that since the crux of the drama is theft of diamonds and not the hijack, the lesser writing of the hijacking portion is not as worrisome as it could’ve been otherwise. The revelation of the suspense is quite exciting and comes as an entertaining twist in the tale and a shock because the audience never thinks on the course which the drama takes. Another plus point is that the pace of the drama is so fast that it doesn’t give the audience time to think. We would have seen heist dramas and hostage thrillers separately, but the thought to mix these genres is impressive.

There’s zero chemistry between the lead actors. The entire thing looks contrived and fake enough to give a feeling that something’s off about the drama unfolding on screen. It is the classic example of a plot that looks amazing on paper but falls flat upon execution. Unnecessary and ill-conceived songs, placed at too frequent intervals in the film, add irritation with the storytelling. The movie is wrapped up just in 100 minutes. There is a lot that appears to be happening on the screen, but the fast-paced editing gives a feeling that everything ended abruptly. After a really good setup, the reveal and payoff were underwhelming.

Overall, plotline and the double jeopardy situation of a heist and a hijack make this movie an exciting watch. The story may not seem convincing, and the events often get convenient, but the slick treatment and direction will keep you hooked throughout. It has a lot going for it, from stellar acting performances to an engaging storyline and a rewarding finale. The last 40 odd minutes deserve a separate mention. My view on this movie Recommended.
