India beat Pakistan in Champions Trophy 2025-cricketmovie.com

Champions Trophy 2025: Team India qualify for the semi-final after beating Pakistan by 6 wickets at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

2nd Game (India Vs Pakistan)
Game Date: 23rd February 2025
Details:
Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and elected to bat first in the game against Team India of Champions Trophy at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. No changes in India playing XI.

Pakistan bowled out for 241 runs in 49.4 overs. An impressive bowling performance by India as they have restricted Pakistan to a ordinary total in Dubai. Babar Azam played a few good-looking shots earlier in the day, however, he wasn’t able to carry on and convert his start into a formidable total. Rizwan and Shakeel added some crucial runs following that, but the run rate wasn’t great when the two batters were out there in the middle. Their wickets triggered a mini batting collapse as the Indian spinners kept taking wickets at regular intervals and kept a lid on the scoring rate. Kuldeep with three wickets was the pick of the bowlers for India, while Khushdil added some pivotal runs towards the end and helped Pakistan get over the 240-run mark. The pitch isn’t that easy to bat on, it’s quite sluggish, hence it will be interesting to see how the Indian batters go about in the run chase. Saud Shakeel scored 62 runs of 76 balls and Khushdil Shah scored 38 runs of 39 balls. For Team India, Kuldeep Yadav picked 3 wickets for 40 runs in his 9 overs.

Team India chased down the target by scoring 244/4 runs in 42.3 overs and won the game by 6 wickets. Clinical performance from India! Firstly, it was a very good bowling performance from the Indians. While Shami struggled a bit with control in the opening spell, Hardik bowled a superb 6-over spell in which he removed Babar Azam. Rizwan and Shakeel stitched a century partnership for the third wicket but they were very cautious against some disciplined bowling. Both of them were dropped but they couldn’t capitalise and Pakistan lost three quick wickets. And, Kuldeep’s spell in the last 10 overs where he picked three wickets didn’t allow Pakistan to accelerate. In reply, Rohit came out all guns blazing but his innings was cut short by a Shaheen Afridi yorker. Shubman Gill was watchful in the following over but went after the left-arm pacer with a flurry of eye-pleasing boundaries. India raced away to 64/1 at the end of the first powerplay. Haris Rauf bowled a good first over and induced a couple of false strokes. While Kohli’s top edge fell short of third man, Gill was dropped on 35 by Khushdil at midwicket. Rauf leaked 14 runs off his second over, thanks to Kohli’s two cover drives who also crossed 14k runs in ODIs. And that was the beginning of a special knock from the chase master. Virat Kohli scored 100* of 111 balls and Shreyas Iyer scored 56 runs of 67 balls. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi picked 2 wickets for 74 runs in his 8 overs.

PAK: 241 all out in 49.4 overs
PAK: 244/4 in 42.3 overs

Match Result: India won by 6 wickets
Man of the Match: Virat Kohli

Stats
– Each of Pakistan’s two wins against India in the recent past in ICC tournaments have come on the back of Pakistan seamers denting India in the Powerplay (Mohd Amir in CT 2017 final & Shaheen Afridi in T20 WC 2021).

India have won 10 out of 13 ICC ODI matches against Pakistan but the rivals enjoy a slight a 3-2 W-L record against India in Champions Trophy making it the only ICC tournament where they have a positive W-L record against India.

Gill currently has 2688 runs after 51 innings is the most by a player at that point. His average of 62.51 is the highest for any player while only Imam-ul-Haq (9) has scored more hundreds at the same point in his career.

Babar and Imam average 63.74 as a pair in ODIs – the highest among all Pakistan pairs with at least 1000 partnership runs, all coming for the second wicket. However, their last seven partnerships read: 16, 4, 39, 19, 32, 20, & 18.
