CG United ODI Series: Team India won first ODI by 3 runs in the last ball thriller against West Indies. They lead the series 1-0 with 2 more ODI to go at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

1st ODI (India Vs West Indies)
Game Date: 22nd July 2022
Details:
West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and elected to field first in the 1st ODI against Team India at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. Vice-captain for this series Ravindra Jadeja is not playing due to injuries for the first 2 ODI’s so Shreyas Iyer is stand-in vice-captain.

Team India scored 308/7 in their 50 overs after batting first. At one time, they threatened to go past 350 once but have to settle with 308. Windies fought back in the second half of the innings and picked up wickets to peg back India. Dhawan and Gill though gave India a great start after they were put into bat. Iyer also contributed with a fifty but post that the going got tough. The wicket is good to bat on but you need to spend some time on it. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan scored 97 runs of 99 balls and Shubman Gill scored 64 runs of 53 balls. For West Indies, Alzarri Joseph & Gudakesh Motie pick 2 wickets each.

West Indies unable to chase the target and scored 305/6 in their 50 overs and lost the game by 3 runs. No Super Over, but there’s no shortage of entertainment here in Trinidad as we draw curtains on this thrill-a-minute encounter where West Indies finished second despite scoring 50/0 off the last 5 overs. They would, however, be pleased with the fact of batting full quota of overs. One that should lift their spirits for the rest of the series. As for India, Shardul Thakur removed both set batters around the halfway mark which threatened to take the game away from the hosts. Contributions from Pooran, King, Akeal Hosein and Shepherd proved almost enough and despite some slice of luck, the home team couldn’t quite get past the finish line. India’s spinners were impressive but lacked a bit of consistency in lines. Overall, a good game of cricket. Kyle Mayers scored 75 of 68 balls and Brandon King scored 54 runs of 66 balls. For Team India, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur & Yuzvendra Chahal picks 2 wickets each.
